In plain words

Stork is a full-text search plugin for websites that uses WebAssembly to run searches directly in the browser. It is customizable and allows developers to add powerful search functionality to their sites without relying on external servers. The plugin processes search queries locally, making it suitable for static sites, documentation, and content-heavy websites where fast, responsive search is needed.

From the sources

I've wound down my work with Stork . The project will be available, but I don't plan on making updates going forward. Thanks to everyone who used Stork over the years. Stork is a library for creating beautiful, fast, and accurate full-text search interfaces. It comes in two parts. First, it's a command-line tool that indexes content and creates a search index file that you can upload to a web server. Second, it's a Javascript library that uses that search index file to build an interactive search interface that displays optimal search results immediately to your user, as they type. Stork is built with Rust, and the Javascript library uses WebAssembly behind the scenes. It's easy to get…from stork-search.net

Alternative search engines are neat, as are RSS feeds. OpenOrb is a self-hosted app which allows visitors to search over a list of blogs you love. If you put your 10 favourite blogs in there, it'll search just those blogs and not show you any sponsored content or machine-generated garbage (unless... you follow blogs written by machines?) Personal RSS feed readers can usually do this sort of thing, but RSS readers aren’t meant to be shared, so you can think of the search engine as a 'curated feed list as a public service'. I wrote a longer blog post about OpenOrb here:…

Hey HN, we’re Adi and Arnav. A few months ago, we hit a wall trying to get LLMs to answer questions over research papers and instruction manuals. Everything worked fine, until the answer lived inside an image or diagram embedded in the PDF. Even GPT‑4o flubbed it (we recently tried O3 with the same, and surprisingly it flubbed it too). Naive RAG pipelines just pulled in some text chunks and ignored the rest. We took an invention disclosure PDF (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ySzQgbNZkC5dPLtE3pnnVL2rW_9...) containing an IRR‑vs‑frequency graph and asked GPT “From…

It's been a long slow hog and I almost gave up a few times (more than a few) but when covid hit this year it gave me some time to really focus on my product. There were stupid user journey things that I knew needed fixed. There were some features I knew needed added. And I knew the pricing was wrong. I spent some hardcore time working on these things back in March / April and since then my MRR has continued to grow. My product is SongBox (https://songbox.rocks) - it's an alternative to things like bandcamp and soundcloud for creators who need to share audio files privately.…
