Stroke

a fast, modern, minimal database client.

Stroke launched on July 16, 2026 with 2 votes.

What it does

Stroke is a database client for people who work in their database all day and are tired of fighting their tools. It's a fast, lightweight desktop app for PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite, and Cloudflare D1 that stays smooth even on tables with over a million rows. It's keyboard-first, with a command palette for everything, and AI-native — chat with your data, generate SQL, and connect your own AI tools through a built-in MCP server. Clean, focused, no bloat. Just the tools you need.

A modern, minimal database client for PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite, SQL Server, ClickHouse, DuckDB, and more. Browse schemas, edit data, and write SQL, while your AI agents query the same database through the built-in MCP server. Built in Rust and Tauri. Free to try, $9.99 to own it forever.

Stroke is a fast desktop client for PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite, SQL Server, ClickHouse, DuckDB, and more. Browse schemas, edit data inline, and write SQL, while your AI agents query the same database through the built-in MCP server. Built in Rust and Tauri, so it launches instantly and stays out of your way. Runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux. Free to try, no account needed. Stroke is a native app, not another Electron build hauling a whole browser around. It launches in an instant, stays light no matter how large your tables get, and never makes your fans spin. Stroke ships an MCP server, so Claude, Cursor, or any agent can read your schema and run queries in one click. The same schema-aware…from stroke.click

Hi HN, Over the past few months I've been building DB Pro with my co-founder. DB Pro is a modern desktop database GUI client designed to make working with Postgres, MySQL, SQLite, libSQL and other engines feel fast, visual, and enjoyable. Our focus has been on the dev-experience. We wanted to absolutely nail the UX and look and feel as we believe most db clients aren't friendly to work with. Some features: Visual change review – See pending inserts/updates/deletes before committing them. Inline data editing – Edit table rows directly without clunky modal dialogs. Raw SQL editor – A…

Hello everyone, I'm an indie hacker and, like many others, I also use various database management software. About a year ago, I evaluated several database-related apps, and my ideal app should be lightweight, simple, and beautiful. Finally, I decided to create my own and recently completed it. This is my first released product called Dataflare, built using Rust/Tauri/React. It supports dozens of databases and has a size of only 30MB. It is simple enough but still lacks some functionalities. Hope it will be useful to you, and if possible, please provide me with some feedback.

I might be the only SRE on Earth with his own bowling center. It's a more in-depth gig than you'd think. My family and I bought an abandoned 8-lane bowling center in the rural mid-west. In our small town there weren't many recreation options for families. You've heard of a food desert? This is an R&R desert. It had been abandoned for a good reason. The roof leaks, the electrical system was constantly surging, and my 70-year-old bowling equipment (still) doesn't work perfectly. The system that keeps your score is particularly interesting to me. It's the thing you watch during your game, but…

Over the past few months, our team has been building more and more slidedecks using web frontend technologies with coding harnesses like Claude Code, but a common complaint is to make even small edits we need to edit the code either manually or via the harness. To avoid this loop, I ended up creating Bento, a single HTML file with everything you need in a slide tool including animations and shared editing. There's no install or cloud login, everything works offline. The default deck is around 560 KB and it doesn't need to fetch anything once you got it. Open it in a browser and then you can…

  • A few days ago I found myself trying out GLM 5.2 and was really positively impressed. The capabilities and security I was getting from this LLM are similar to those I've gotten from models like Claude or GPT, and this really surprised me. But then I thought, "I wonder how it would work on a normal computer like mine," and above all, "I wonder if it would work without going into OOM on a computer like mine." So I started working with the help of agents to test this possibility. I started converting the model to int4, understanding MTP usage, and if possible implementing DSA for long context.…

Hello! For the last 2 months, I've been building OpenSEO. It's a user friendly UI wrapping the DataForSEO API which has high quality SEO data for keywords, backlinks, AI SEO and competitor research. Instead of paying $100+ per month, you buy DataForSEO credits and pay only for usage. The coolest thing about the project so far has been hearing about what people are building on top of it. People are using coding agents to quickly integrate with Google Search Console, Google Ads and building their own AI SEO and reporting features. Many were already building their own custom solutions around…
