SurfaBeam
Projection mapping from your phone, tablet, Mac or PC
What it does
Projection mapping usually means a laptop, a heavy desktop suite and an evening of setup. SurfaBeam puts it on a touchscreen. Add a surface, drag the corners onto the real object, bow the edges into curves for a pillar or a pumpkin, mask the spill, drop in a video. Same toolset on Android, iOS, macOS and Windows. Camera-based hand and body tracking, a timeline for sequencing a show, and export to a video file. Free forever with a watermark; Pro removes it and unlocks save, load and export.
Projection mapping and video mapping made simple. Warp visuals onto any surface from your phone, tablet or PC — on iOS, Android, macOS and Windows.
SurfaBeam Pro is a projection mapping and video mapping app that turns a phone, tablet or PC into the controller for your show , letting you warp, mask and align visuals onto real-world surfaces without a heavy desktop rig. It runs on iOS, Android, macOS and Windows , so you can map from your phone on site and from your PC in the studio using the same workflow. Walls, props, windows, curved shapes: you drag a surface's corners onto the real object until the outline sits exactly where you want it. Everything updates live in the preview, so you can try an idea, look at it on the wall, and change it a minute later. Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
