What it does
SVGym is an open-source (MIT) SVG optimizer that goes beyond SVGO. It verifies every change by rendering the image before and after each step and reverting anything that drops visual quality, so files come out smaller but never broken, with hover states, animations, and media queries preserved. The browser tool runs entirely on your device (nothing is uploaded), and the CLI optimizes single files or whole icon folders into a sprite sheet.
Compress an SVG beyond SVGO entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
The deterministic pipeline runs entirely in your browser , verifying every change against your browser's own rendering. Lossless: structurally identical. Conservative: SSIM ≥ 0.99 (visually identical). Aggressive: SSIM ≥ 0.97 (pushes harder). Every step is rendered and reverted if it drops below the bar. (The optional AI mode and the SVGO pre-pass are CLI-only; this is the deterministicfrom maziars.github.io

Hyvector – A fast and modern SVG editor2025 · hyvector.com · ▲331I have been working on Hyvector for the last five years and finally decided to present the result of my work. Hyvector is an SVG editor that runs in all modern browsers. It is stable, very fast, and capable of handling complex SVG images. Big new features like art strokes, vector tracing, colorizing are in the making, but for now the focus is on pushing a polished first release out of the door. I would love to hear any feedback on what you like, missing features, or any bugs you encounter via our issue tracker: https://github.com/hyvectorapp/hyvector-issues Note that…

Talanoa▲346Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

Homebrew 6.0.0▲1,481Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!

Hi HN! I was super frustrated at apps like tiktok and wechat preventing me from saving or downloading the animated gifs, so I made a little tool to turn a screen recording into a slack-sized emoji. Hope you get some value from this!
