What it does
SWACN is a tool that turns terminal recordings into interactive, bootable sandboxes. If you’ve ever used asciinema, you know it’s great for watching a CLI tool in action. SWACN takes that a step further: it captures your terminal session and its filesystem into a tiny, client-side Linux VM (running in WASM). Your audience doesn't just watch a video; they can "flip" the recording and actually use the tool themselves right there in the browser.

Some two years ago, I found myself spending a lot of time in the terminal between learning vim and discovering new command line tools. I was surprised to see that the niche of HN clis was (relatively) small, and so I decided to write my own command line tool for browsing HN called `circumflex`(`clx`). `clx` is written in Go using Bubble Tea[1]. An open source approach to locally record everything you view on your Apple Silicon computer. Note: Relies on Apple Silicon, and configured to only produce Apple Silicon builds. I think the idea of recording everything you see has the potential to change how we interact with our computers, and believe it should be open source. Also, from a privacy / security perspective, this is like... pretty scary stuff, and I want the code open so we know for certain that nothing is leaving your laptop. Even logging to Sentry has the potential to leak private info.
