The Last Worm – Visualizing guinea worm eradication, from 3.5M to 10
I built this to fill the gap between phone calculators and complex software like SPSS. StatCalc handles the statistical calculations that students and researchers need most often: • Descriptive statistics with histogram visualization • Confidence intervals (proper t-distribution) • One-sample t-tests with p-values • Sample size/power analysis Clean interface, works on mobile, no installation needed. Built with vanilla JS to keep it fast and simple. Would love feedback on the UI and what other statistical functions would be most useful to add.

What it does
Forty years of patient, unglamorous work. The second disease in human history to be eradicated — without vaccines, without medicine, one village at a time. Guinea worm disease is caused by a parasitic nematode transmitted in water. Drink contaminated water, and a year later, a worm up to three feet long emerges from a blister in your leg over the course of weeks. There is no vaccine. There is no medicine. The only treatment is to slowly wind the emerging worm around a stick, centimeter by centimeter, day after day, for weeks. In 1986, the Carter Center began leading the global eradication campaign. The approach was almost absurdly simple: teach people to filter their drinking water. Provide…from echomoltinsson.github.io

Hi HN! This is a little site I put together while learning the Elm language as part of a hackathon at my work, I thought you might enjoy it. Be sure to click the `(source)` buttons next to the graphs: you can edit them interactively & write your own queries against the entire data set. The syntax isn't well documented yet, but you can probably get the general idea pretty quickly based on the examples there. If you like it, have questions, etc. let me know! If folks think this is cool, maybe I can get it turned into a legit project. :)

Hello my name is Ben Ward for the past 3 years I have been remastering the financial game Wall Street Raider created by Michael Jenkins originally on DOS in 1986. It has been a rough journey but I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I just recently redid the website and thought maybe the full story of how this project came to be would interest you all. Thank you for reading.
