The Open Insurance Initiative (OPIN)

What it does

OPIN released a white paper providing a high level overview of the elements involved in incumbent insurers providing open access to their APIs allowing their customers to freely share with third parties their insurance policy information. As a community led initiative it could become the largest insurance API project of its kind.

The open insurance initiative is the largest open API project in the industry. All projects are powered by the community.

We are creating a borderless ecosystem for cross sector innovators. OPIN has partnered and collaborated with COVESA (formerly the GENIVI Automotive Alliance) on the alignment of the Open Insurance API and data standards with the Vehicle Signal Specification (VSS). We aim to enhance and promote the adoption of OPIN standards and encourages shared business and system models in the insurance and mobility markets.
