The Swift, bird-like flying robot
Nature-inspired flight with flight sensors and app control
What it does
Bionic Bird – The Swift is a biomimetic flying robot inspired by bird flight. Instead of propellers, it uses flapping wings for a silent, smooth, natural flying experience. Ultra-lightweight and aerodynamically designed, it mimics real avian motion for realism and agility. Controlled via mobile app and joystick, it offers intuitive, immersive flight for hobbyists and tech enthusiasts. Key features: flapping-wing propulsion, portable design, stable control, and nature-inspired flight experience.

- IMI’m Building a Nerf Dart Missile Defense System [video]2022 · youtube.com · ▲175
I’m building a robot that can track nerf darts and shoot them out of the air. I’ve worked on other projects in robotics and object tracking (perception for self driving cars), but this has a whole different set of challenges. Nerf rival rounds travel at over 100 feet per second and shooting them out of the air requires aiming systems that are precise to less than half the width of a human hair and timing precision of 600 times faster than the blink of an eye. This is the first part of the series of me building the project (and my first video!) so I’d love to hear what you think!

Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
