TrackNotch
LLM usage tracking that lives in your Mac's notch
TrackNotch launched on May 29, 2026 with 98 votes, #326 of 20,538 launches that month and more than 95% of that year's launches.
What it does
TrackNotch is a native macOS app that shows Claude, OpenAI, Cursor, and Codex usage right in your notch. Context arc, budget tracking, rate limits and all local. No proxies, no telemetry, nothing leaves your machine. Free and open-source.

Signed + notarized build is on the roadmap — no more right-click needed. TrackNotch reads Claude Code's local JSONL session files to calculate context usage. No token or key needed. # Install Claude Code if you haven't already npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code # Generate an OAuth token claude setup-token Paste the token (starts with sk-ant-oat01-… ) into Settings → Claude Code → Rate-limit tracking. TrackNotch reads provider data from locations like ~/.claude that are outside the App Sandbox. Shipping unsandboxed avoids per-launch folder-access prompts. The tradeoff is documented and intentional — see PRIVACY.md . git clone https://github.com/manojacharix/tracknotch.git cd…from github.com

Talanoa▲340Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
