Unlocking Insights Hidden in Data Charts with GPT-4

What it does
In the maker’s words, at launch
My name is Victor, I’m Head of Product at DoubleCloud, a platform that helps data pros build sub-second data analytical solutions and pipelines on open-source technologies like ClickHouse, Apache Kafka, ETL and Business Intelligence services. Hearing from our users, we know how daunting it is to gather insights and try to make sense of all the charts, graphs and metrics, especially when you have to explain it to your business stakeholders. That’s why we’ve just launched our new feature — GPT-4 integrated into our platform’s BI tool. We all know how good ChatGPT is at summarizing texts. But we also discovered that it is capable of comprehending and evaluating structured data such as tables, HTML, CSV, and other file types. So we decided to utilize its potential to provide our users with quick and easily understandable data insights. Users don’t have to write prompts, as it is automatically done under-the-hood, so that the system comprehends the chart's context and provides the raw data needed for in-depth analysis. The feature brings the best value working with complex dashboards where multiple factors like scale, numbers and context need to be comprehended to ascertain the underlying insights. The greatest thing is in the ability of ChatGPT to track trends and correlations, insignificant deviations that may not be visible to our eye, but carry an important trend. We tested it across various industries and some cases are really cool. Just a quick example: a food delivery service with over 20 KPIs across 30 warehouses. Since there are so many warehouses and measures to keep track of, it would be really hard for people to notice everything. But ChatGPT picked up on a few warehouses that were slow at packaging and suggested sending some workers from those places to another warehouse as a way to raise business productivity. Here's access to a free trial: https://double.cloud/services/doublecloud-visualization/ without credit card and without any GPT-4 API Key. We encourage all data pros to test our new feature and provide us with honest feedback as we strive to make it better.

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

Hey HN, Henry from Cactus here! We previously released Cactus Needle, a 14MB agentic LLM for tool call, device use, and structured extraction for phones, wearables, smart homes, small robots and microcontrollers. We got really great feedback here, and have now incorporated the suggestions to release Needle 2. The whole model is a single 14MB binary that runs a full session in 28MB of RAM; 45m parameters at 2bit compression. Needle hits 500 tokens/sec decode speed on a Raspberry Pi 5, sits between 400-1,500 tokens/sec on VR devices like Meta Quest 3S and Apple Vision Pro, and ranges…
