What it does

Most monitors tell you the internet is down right now. UptimeLogger is built for the argument afterwards: it records every outage and exports a PDF report for the conversation with your ISP. Different: it runs on Windows and macOS (the tool that inspired it is macOS-only), and it uses TCP to several DNS resolvers by IP rather than ICMP pings - no admin rights, and a broken name lookup is not read as a dead line. No account, no telemetry, local database.

UptimeLogger watches your connection around the clock, records every interruption and shows you the history — so the next call with your provider is about facts, not impressions. A background process probes a configurable list of servers. Timeouts and refused connections end an online stretch, a successful connection ends an outage. A menu-bar icon on macOS, a notification-area icon on Windows: green online, red offline. No Dock icon, no window in your way. A year at a glance. The darker a day, the more interruptions it had.   Hey everyone, I want to share a tool, UptimeLog, that helps track internet connections and identify patterns of disconnections and durations, all presented on a calendar heatmap (which I find to be a cool way to visualize different patterns and more). Originally, it started as a quick hack for Linux, allowing me to analyze patterns of periodic internet disconnections over time. However, I have since ported it to macOS, enabling cross-platform compatibility via making the monitoring dashboard accessible through a web page locally.
