What it does
For the last months, we’ve been focused on one core problem that every AI team eventually runs into: Your AI isn’t failing because the model is weak. It’s failing because your data is disorganised. Most companies store their knowledge in a mix of PDFs, Notion pages, Google Docs, internal wikis, and legacy files. None of it is structured, consistent, or machine-friendly and that becomes the biggest bottleneck in any AI workflow. We built Varynex to solve that.

I started building this 10 months ago, largely using agentic coding tools. I've stayed very involved in the code base and architecture, and have never moved faster in my life as a dev. I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
