What it does
Buying a used car is one of the biggest purchases most people make — and it's way too easy to get burned. Vehify lets you look up any car by license plate or VIN and get a full history report: accidents, title issues, odometer rollbacks, open recalls, safety complaints, and a buy/pass verdict with a score. No surprises at the dealership. No regrets after signing. Try it at vehify.app
Check any used car by VIN or license plate. Enhanced vehicle history — accidents, title brands, recalls, odometer — for a fraction of a full report. Free basic check first.

This started as a project to scratch my own itch and has grown from there. Initially I wanted a way to easily see if potential funny license plates were available in a given state, but I've also started using it at car shows when I'm curious which engine or transmission is in a car. It most cases the plate can be matched to a VIN using DMV data, and then some information about the vehicle can be decoded into basic car specs You can also purchase a full vehicle history report which uses data from the NMVTIS and other services to show accident history, previous titles, and salvage issues. The…

Carvia2025 · carvia.ai · ▲9Buying a used car in the US usually means paying $40+ for a Carfax or AutoCheck report — or worse, falling into “free VIN check” sites that upsell hidden subscriptions. We thought that was broken. So we built Carvia: $9.99 per report – no subscriptions, no hidden fees. Comprehensive data – accidents, ownership, mileage, recalls, title issues, theft, etc. AI-powered insights – we generate a simple Carvia Score (1–5), depreciation curves, risk flags, and cost-of-ownership guidance. Modern UX – clean, mobile-friendly reports that first-time buyers and parents can actually understand. Every…

Clipto MCP▲655Hey HN, We recently built Clipto. It’s a tool that lets you search over terabytes of video, audio, and images on your computer, without relying on the cloud. Motivation: we probably all had this similar experience, we know a moment exists in a video or audio, but finding it takes hours scrubbing the timeline. You can send all the media to process in the cloud, but it’s slow, expensive and raises privacy concerns. So we decided to build our own on-device media search engine. How it works (high level): 1. We ingest video, audio, image; normalize formats via ffmpeg; run content analysis to…

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…
