Visualize your lifetime flight history

Create stunning interactive maps of your flights

What it does

Hello! I built Flightmaps, a privacy-first flight visualizer. Most tools force signups to track your history. I built a session-based alternative: no accounts, no data saved to disk. Features: - 3D Globe & 2D Map - Data is processed in-memory and never saved to disk. - Supports Flightly exports and manual airport entry. - Share Cards: Generates professional visuals for your social feeds. Try the demo at flightmaps.co/sample-map. And then import your data! I’d love your feedback!

    I'm an airline pilot – I built interactive graphs/globes of my flights2025 · jameshard.ing · ▲1,539

Hey HN! Pilots everywhere are required to keep a logbook of all their flying hours, aircraft, airports, and so on. Since I track everything digitally (some people still just use paper logbooks!), I put together some data visualizations and a few 3D globes to show my flying history. This globe is probably my favourite so far: https://jameshard.ing/pilot/globes/all If you’ve got ideas for other graphs or ways to show this kind of data, I’d love to hear them!

I've created a web app for querying and visualization of ADS-B datasets: https://adsb.exposed/ Source code: https://github.com/ClickHouse/adsb.exposed/ The results significantly exceeded my expectations because the pictures are insanely beautiful, and the data is a treasure trove. It proves many statements that were not certain: - it is feasible to generate tiles by aggregation on a pixel level (instead of hexagons or rectangular grid); - it does not require JPG/PNG tiles - we can transfer raw bitmap data with zstd compression; - it is possible to…

With social media and now AI, its important to keep the indie web alive. There are many people who write frequently. Blogosphere tries to highlight them by fetching the recent posts from personal blogs across many categories. There are two versions: Minimal (HN-inspired, fast, static): https://text.blogosphere.app/ Non-minimal: https://blogosphere.app/ If you don't find your blog (or your favorite ones), please add them. I will review and approve it.
