vLine launched on February 11, 2014 with 78 votes, #210 of 1,100 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 12 years on.
What it does
vLine is a new free random video chat and the best alternative to Ome TV. Built on our decade of experience with WebRTC, it lets you chat with strangers around the world instantly.
vLine wasn’t always a random video chat. In fact, it started as something completely different — a technology platform built back in 2011, when browser-based video communication was still new. From the very beginning, we focused on WebRTC and real-time communication, helping developers create their own video chat services without plugins or complicated setup. At a time when most solutions were slow and unreliable, vLine introduced a faster, cleaner, and more advanced way to connect people online. Over the years, we built global infrastructure, worked on low-latency connections, and solved real-world challenges like network restrictions, browser compatibility, and video stability. http://instantclick.io/ It seems the internet architecture won't bring us instant websites anytime soon. So here is a hack. I released this JS library last month (today is version 2.0 release, fixing v1.0's rough edges), it makes use of HTML5's pushState and preloading to make a website instant. It works like this: before clicking on a link, you'll hover over it. And there's a delay of 200-300 ms between these two events. InstantClick uses this delay to preload a page, when you click on a link it will display instantly in most case. (You can test on the website.) That's…
