We made a beautiful illustrated book on Bitcoin

Hey HN, For several years we tried to convince our relatives and friends of the importance of Bitcoin and its implications in their daily lives. We unfortunately failed to convince many of them :-) Having both of us had children recently, we came up with a last attempt at presenting Bitcoin. We decided to bring to life a book about Bitcoin that was as accessible as possible, featuring easy-to-understand concepts supported by beautiful illustrations. A book illustrated as one for children, explaining in the simplest possible terms the key ideas behind Bitcoin. We also wanted this book to be…

In plain words

An illustrated book designed to explain Bitcoin's core concepts in simple, accessible language supported by visual artwork. Aimed at people unfamiliar with cryptocurrency who have struggled to understand it through traditional explanations, including children and busy adults. The book uses child-friendly illustrations and concise text to convey key Bitcoin ideas quickly, available in large physical format to showcase its artwork.

In the maker’s words, at launch

Hey HN, For several years we tried to convince our relatives and friends of the importance of Bitcoin and its implications in their daily lives. We unfortunately failed to convince many of them :-) Having both of us had children recently, we came up with a last attempt at presenting Bitcoin. We decided to bring to life a book about Bitcoin that was as accessible as possible, featuring easy-to-understand concepts supported by beautiful illustrations. A book illustrated as one for children, explaining in the simplest possible terms the key ideas behind Bitcoin. We also wanted this book to be very quick to read for those that have little time available (or patience). This is how The Illustrated Guide to Bitcoin was born! We just released it today, it comes only in large physical format to appreciate at best its illustrations. We'll test it as a gift to our friends for this coming Xmas and we would really appreciate any feedback you might have! We would be super happy if it helps to orange pill your friends and family :-) Andrea & Ferdinando

  • Hi HN, I built Eigendrum, a web tool that solves the 2D wave equation for arbitrary shapes so you can hear what they sound like as drums. How it works: * Solves -∇²u = λu using finite element analysis (Kφ = λMφ) on a triangle mesh. * Validated to <0.1% error against closed-form solutions for circles (Bessel zeros) and rectangles. * Sound model factors in strike location, Rayleigh damping, and mallet width. * Includes Kac drums I & II to demonstrate identical sound spectra from different geometries. * No frameworks, build steps, or dependencies. Repo and tests:…

Hi HN! I’m proud to share that we have built a real 3rd party iMessage client for Android. We did it by reverse engineering the iMessage protocol and encryption system. It's available to download today (no waitlist): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.beeper.ima and there's a technical writeup here: https://blog.beeper.com/p/how-beeper-mini-works. Unlike every other attempt to build an iMessage app for Android (including our first gen app), Beeper Mini does not use a Mac server relay in the cloud. The app connects directly to Apple…

Hey! I made Heynote entirely for my own use case. For many years, I always had an Emacs instance running with the scratch buffer open, even long after I had abandoned Emacs as my programming editor in favor of more recent IDE:s. The simplicity of having just one big scratch buffer appeals to me, but I still want to separate the different things I jot down somehow (without using tabs or similar). Previously, my solution was to insert a bunch of blank lines between the notes, but hitting C-A would still select the entire buffer. That's why I came up with the concept of "blocks", which turned…
