WGE

A high-performance web application firewall library(C++)

What it does

Existing WAF solutions often become performance bottlenecks when handling large-scale traffic. We discovered ModSecurity's limitations in high-concurrency scenarios within our commercial product, leading us to build a truly high-performance WAF engine from the ground up. Test Case: CRS v4.3.0 without TCMalloc - ModSecurity: 4,010 QPS - WGE: 17,560 QPS - Performance Gain: 4.38x Test Case: CRS v4.3.0 with TCMalloc - ModSecurity: 4,927 QPS - WGE: 18,864 QPS - Performance Gain: 3.83x

    Howdy folk, I've been building this project as both a side project and my job for a little while now. The rationale behind it is while wireguard is a fantastic protocol cryptographically it leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to enrollment and end user device security. Obviously instead of using an off the shelf solution like tailscale, I decided to reinvent the wheel which has honestly been quite fun with learning about eBPF, and recently clustering and HA with etcd! The most recent version (in the docker container) contains about 6 months of very new work bringing it all from sqlite3…

    I've frequently found myself using [nvitop](https://github.com/XuehaiPan/nvitop) to diagnose GPU/CPU contention issues. The two best things about it are: - It's easy to install if I can access pip in the container - It makes a compelling screenshot (which helps me communicate with coworkers.) With those two lessons in mind: Here is Sping! Purpose: Help observe and diagnose latency issues at layer 4+ (TCP/HTTP/HTTPS) Two good things about it: - It's easy to install if you have pip.
