What can be done with a LiveCode, modern-day HyperCard, and a pledge

Hello, I came here to show some cool stuff that I made with LiveCode, an HyperCard on steroids, and why I think it makes a great programming language for both beginners and seasoned developers alike. In the end, I make a pledge for the readers to help the kickstarter to make LiveCode an open source language in the terms of the GPL. There are only about 24h left and we're almost there but we need help. My little article is at: http://files.andregarzia.com/pledge.html The KS campaign is at: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1755283828/open-source-edition-of-livecode Thanks in advance for all…

Please check it out. I spent all of 2012 learning to code to launch what would eventually become Uncover. I'm super excited to announce that we're finally live. Here's a blog post I wrote on how we got there and a little story behind the startup: http://spencerfry.com/introducing-uncover

LiveCoder is a fun tool I built almost a year ago to simulate live coding Frontend technologies for my presentations. You actually don't have to live-code, but just prepare beforehand the program, snippets of HTML, CSS and Javascript and you feed the tool with it, so you can just focus on explaining what's being coded. Simple :-) I never really shared this tool, but I used it in a few presentations quite succesfully, so I think it could be an interesting tool to use. You have full control of the speed. You can pause and resume... An entire app can be live-coded with this. It's quite fun to…

    Lucidcode- A Copilot to Understand Codebases2024 · lucidcode.ai · ▲6

Hello HN, I am building a devtool to understand existing codebases. The idea originates from my time at big tech as well as various attempts to get involved in open source projects. When I was in college I wanted to improve my coding skills by contributing to opensource projects. I would pickup a bug or feature request but I always found myself stuck at the very first step. I did not understood where and how to begin contributing. I once submitted a patch in firefox which was labeled "Good first issue" but that was still very handheld. The assigner told me exactly which files I need to…

    I successfully failed at one-shot-ing a video codec like h.264Apr 2026 · github.com · ▲9

Read an article yesterday about the H.264 codec increasing their licensing fee by an astronomical amount. And as always, my first shot was how hard could it be to try and build a codec which could be that efficient. I've personally been on a drive to improve my ability to one-shot complex features, products, or make even surgical changes. It's been a few months since I've been doing that, and honestly, results have been great for both work and work/life balance. This was a fun experiment. It burned through tokens, but it helped me identify some more improvements I could make to my…
