I built RenderCV because Word kept breaking my layout and LaTeX was overkill. I wanted my CV as a single YAML file (content, design, margins, everything) that I could render with one command. Run rendercv render cv.yaml → get a perfectly typeset PDF. Highlights: 1. Version-controllable: Your CV is just text. Diff it, tag it. 2. LLM-friendly: Paste into ChatGPT, tailor to a job description, paste back, render. Batch-produce variants with terminal AI agents. 3. Create a web accessible URL for your CV or resume2025 · cv.studio · ▲19

Hey HN! We built a quick way to normalize CVs and resumes. Specifically, we built a simple 2-page app at https://cv.studio/ where you can choose a pdf, doc or docx file, and CV Studio will extract the relevant professional metadata out of it and give you a web-shareable URL of that CV. There are a couple other features (e.g. being able to add information that is missing in the CV) but we’re hoping this makes it easier for people to share CVs of applicants during the hiring process. We’d love any feedback or questions you might have.

I realized that the PDF engines of modern desktop browsers (PDFium and PDF.js) support JavaScript with enough I/O primitives to make a basic game like Tetris. It was a bit tricky to find a union of features that work in both engines, but in the end it turns out that showing/hiding annotation "fields" works well to make monochrome pixels, and keyboard input can be achieved by typing in a text input box. All in all it's quite janky but a nice reminder of how general purpose PDF scripting can be. The linked PDF is all ASCII so you can just open it in a text editor, or have a look at…

I originally built this app to organize and reuse interesting React + Tailwind components I came across on Twitter, inspired by the shadcn/ui approach. Later, a friend started contributing their own components, and it got me thinking—this could grow into something bigger, like an NPM for design engineers to share and use components. Would love to hear your thoughts!
