Zkitch
A modern Skitch alternative for macOS
What it does
Zkitch is a modern screenshot annotation app for macOS, built as an alternative to Skitch. Quickly add arrows, text, shapes, highlights, and more to your screenshots with a simple and lightweight UI. Zkitch can also import and re-edit Skitch PNG / JPEG images, so existing Skitch users can continue working with their old files on modern macOS versions. I’d love to hear your feedback!

I really loved Skitch. In fact, the pink Skitch arrows and dumbed-down text became a trademark of mine in multiple jobs. In a sea of text on Slack and email, Skitch annotations are a refreshing way to make a single, obvious, and easy to digest point. Since Skitch shut down, I've looked for multiple alternatives that are: Free-ish, have similar styling, and are lightweight (no signin, no server syncing). I didn't find any, so I built PinkArrows. Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
