Products that do what 10x Kubernetes Cluster on Hetzner Cloud does

I created this terraform/tofu module that provisions a k8s/k3s cluster on Hetzner's cloud. If you compare the price to popular hyperscalers you get 10x the value for your buck. Quick overview of the most important features: - hosts are managed in node pools, like you'd do on AKS, etc - the cluster configuration has been hardened according to k3s hardening guide (https://docs.k3s.io/security/hardening-guide) - the cluster is private by default and can not be accessed from the internet - you decide what to expose - nodes are auto-installing security updates -…

Hi HN! I’m Zach, co-founder / CTO of Platform Engineering Labs. We’re building formae, an open-source IaC system that stays in sync with real infrastructure instead of relying on manually maintained state and drift detection. We’ve just shipped Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform .tfvars support. The goal with this release was simple: make it easy to start using formae with infrastructure people already have. formae can now discover existing k8s workloads automatically and the ability to utilize existing Helm charts. Coming from Terraform / OpenTofu and already have variable…

Started this because configuring Fabric8 for EKS was driving me crazy. Building a client that auto-detects your environment (IAM roles, profiles, local configs) so you don't have to wire it all up manually. Still pretty early and building for EKS right now. Long way to go, but putting it out there early to see if others have hit the same problems or want to help shape where this goes.

Dear startups, We've recently launched our service that helps deploy capacity across AWS EC2 spot to provide high availability and up to 90% discount on compute. Magic happens by us predicting spot prices and distributing capacity across dozens of uncorrelated Spot auctions to limit exposure to possible price spikes. As serial entrepreneurs we know first hand how important it is to iterate quickly and reducing the compute cost is one of the ways to approach it. If your company's AWS bill is significant (>$10k/month) and you have an interesting use case that we can discuss - we'd be…

Hey HN! I wanted to share an open-source project I’ve been working on called k8sAI. It’s a personal AI Kubernetes expert that can answer questions about your cluster, suggests commands, and even executes relevant kubectl commands to help diagnose and suggest fixes to your cluster, all in the CLI! As a relative newcomer to k8s, this tool has really streamlined my workflow. I can ask questions about my cluster, k8sAI will run kubectl commands to gather info, and then answer those question. It’s also found several issues in my cluster for me - all I’ve had to do is point it in the right…

A lot of Kubernetes observability projects require very invasive deployments. My team was looking for something more lightweight and non-invasive, so we built the network mapper, an open source project which uses DNS traffic to map service traffic within Kubernetes clusters. We’ve just added a CLI that creates a graphical map of your cluster using graphviz: otterize network-mapper visualize. I’m curious to learn: Is such a map valuable to you? How would you use the information? Do you already have a map of your cluster, and was it difficult to acquire?

Wanted to share some exciting news - CAST AI (AI-driven cloud cost monitoring and management platform) has launched a free Cloud security insights tool for K8s. Security Insights offers the following features: Kubernetes configuration checks, to ensure your cluster is configured according to best practices for pods and workloads. Users are provided with details on individual checks and resources through CAST AI’s user interface. Vulnerability scans, which offer an overview of potential issues that might appear due to container images downloaded from public registries. Round-the-clock…

Me and a few friends have been working multy.dev, an open-source cloud agnostic API that makes it easy to deploy the same infrastructure to any cloud provider using native managed services. The motivation was the realisation that, even when using Terraform, migrating infrastructure code requires an end-to-end re-write. Even though most core resources are the same in any major cloud, developers need to learn a new provider to deploy the same infrastructure when moving providers. We currently support: - Networking (virtual_network, subnet, route_table, security_group, network_interface,…
