Hi HN community! We want to share AI-town, a deployable starter kit for building and customizing your own version of AI simulation - a virtual town where AI characters live, chat and socialize. Inspired by great work from the Stanford Generative Agent paper (https://arxiv.org/abs/2304.03442). A few features: - Includes a convex.dev backed server-side game engine that handles global state - Multiplayer ready. Deployment ready - 100% Typescript - Easily customizable. You can fork it, change character memories, add new sprites/tiles and you have a custom AI simulation…

This is a weekend project that spiraled out of control. I was originally trying to get Claude to play a ROM of the SNES SimCity. I struggled with it and that led me to Micropolis (the open-sourced SimCity engine) and was able to get it to work by bolting on an API. The weekend hack turned into a headless city simulation platform where anyone can get an API key (no signup) and have their AI agent play mayor. The simulation runs the real Micropolis engine inside Cloudflare Durable Objects, one per city. Every city is public and browsable on the site. LLMs are awful at the spatial stuff, which…

Hi HN! We’re Max and Peyton from The Interface (https://www.theinterface.com/). We started out building an AI agent dev tool, but somewhere along the way it turned into Sims for AI agents. Demo video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRPnX_f2V_c. The original idea was simple: make it easy to create AI agents. We started with Jupyter Notebooks, where each cell could be callable by MCP—so agents could turn them into tools for themselves. It worked well enough that the system became self-improving, churning out content, and acting like a co-pilot that helped you…

at a pub in london, 2 weeks ago - I asked myself, if you spawned agents into a world with blank neural networks and zero knowledge of human existence — no language, no economy, no social templates — what would they evolve on their own? would they develop language? would they reproduce? would they evolve as energy dependent systems? what would they even talk about? so i decided to make myself a god, and built WERLD - an open-ended artificial life sim, where the agent's evolve their own neural architecture. Werld drops 30 agents onto a graph with NEAT neural networks that evolve their own…

Hey everyone! Wanted to show off a little side project I've been working on. A lot of people have been using AI to one-shot games, but they're often quite buggy - glitchy graphics, collisions aren't setup, or regressions in earlier levels. With an AI playtester in the loop, I've been able to one-shot games like Candy Crush or Crossy Road that would previously have bugs like cut-off UIs or stuck retries. The way it works basically goes like this: 1/ The playtester starts by reading the code to understand what its parent AI is asking it to play, and to decide what breakpoints, hooks and…
