Directed acyclic graphs are muched discussed in comp-sci, but octopus appears to be the first reusable, turnkey, ready-to-wear, off-the-shelf implementation of a DAG for application development, in any language, that I'm aware of. This is remarkable because DAGs hit a sweet spot in the middle of the three common programming paradigms (OO, event-driven, functional). This started off as a project to understand how to get LLMs to interface with more traditional desktop softwares. We were especially interested in tools related to schematic drafting and molecular simulation. Decided to explore COM automation for more traditional Windows softwares as a starting point! Been using it to help some friends automate simple excel workflows. Thought we'd share!

Every Wayland compositor I could find is a tiling one: sway, river, Hyprland, dwl, niri. If you want windows that float and overlap with titlebars and a taskbar, the way IceWM does it, there's almost nothing. That is Steppewm
