Products that do what Amazon Seller sent me a postcard asking me to leave a 5-star review does
Wanted to jump in and throw this here since this is about the first time I've been reached out to by an Amazon seller by mail, directly asking me to leave a 5-star review in exchange for a $20 gift card. With an already struggling E-commerce market, it's quite strange to see the lengths sellers are going to, to buy 5-star reviews from buyers. Hey there HN! So for the last few weeks I decided I wanted to learn more about selling on Amazon and FBA - so I did what any normal hacker would do. My story: I founded this a couple of years ago because my school (I was 11/12 at the time) had recently purchased a library system which was horrible and ugly. I thought it could be made much better, so I coded for months on end to get this product working. I submitted this to a TV competition on national TV and got the opportunity to pitch this product in front of 500,000 viewers. I received a bursary of €2,000 from the show and used that money to grow the business. Currently the business is thriving and is growing rapidly. I'd really appreciate any feedback you might have. Hi there, So a buddy a couple of days ago came up with the idea for a new SaaS product regarding gpt and image generation. We did a quick MVP that barely works, it breaks almost 50% of the time but we still wanted to validate the idea before going all in. We have almost 1k followers on Twitter together. Shopping online can be pretty tedious if you care about the quality of what you are buying. The time it takes can scale pretty proportionally to some combination of the value, relative importance, and complexity of the purchase. I think LLMs can help expedite and personalize the online shopping experience to a degree marketplaces just don't currently provide. I don't think anybody really wants to read the product descriptions of a bunch of products, read reviews, do pairwise product comparisons, and find the best deals across different websites? We decided to keep text to as minimal as possible but we may have gone overboard. Our main concern is that users will not really understand what this product is in our strive for simplicity. We found that evaluating products based on ratings alone often is not helpful, and some products have too many reviews to efficiently read. Also, for many products, we discovered that finding where the well-written and thoughtful reviews fell was more important than the content.
