Hey HN We made a site that let's anyone measure the forever chemicals in their blood with the gold standard LC-MS/MS blood serum test at Quest Diagnostics. If you're a firefighter, plant worker, planning to become pregnant or just someone who lives in an area with contaminated drinking water, check it out. I live in Santa Cruz. We’re Robin, Louis, and Thomas. Pipelex is a DSL and a Python runtime for repeatable AI workflows. Think Dockerfile/SQL for multi-step LLM pipelines: you declare steps and interfaces; any model/provider can fill them. Why this instead of yet another workflow builder? - Declarative, not glue code: you state what to do; the runtime figures out how. - Agent-first: each step carries natural-language context (purpose, inputs/outputs with meaning) so LLMs can follow, audit, and optimize. Our MCP server enables agents to run pipelines but also to build new pipelines on demand. - Open…

Hello HN! We just launched a new feature we built at Depot that accelerates Docker image builds on your local machine in a team environment, and we wanted to share some of the details with you all. The launch blog post: https://depot.dev/blog/local-builds Depot is a hosted container build service - we run fully managed Intel and Arm remote build machines in AWS, with large instance sizes and SSD cache disks. The machines run BuildKit, the build engine that powers Docker, so generally anything you can `docker build`, you can also `depot build`. Most people use Depot in CI,…

I built an open labeling standard for tracking mushroom specimens through their lifecycle (from spore/culture to harvest). v1.1 adds clonal generation tracking (distinct from filial/strain generations) and conforms to JSON-LD for interoperability with agricultural/scientific data systems. Spec (CC 4.0): https://wemush.com/open-standard/specification Client libraries (Apache 2.0): Python + CLI: pip install wols (also on GHCR) TypeScript/JS: npm install @wemush/wols Background: Mycology has fragmented data practices (misidentified species,…

Hi HN, Henrique here from Brex. We just launched a corporate card specially tailored for life sciences companies (https://brex.com/industry/life-sciences), and every time we launch something new we get a lot of questions about how we chose to prioritize this feature or product, so I thought it’d be interesting to share here with the HN community. While I’ve previously posted about launching our initial tech startup card (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=17418813), the decision to launch Life Sciences was much different in that we already had two…

I'd like to share a project I've been working on for the past few months. It's a distributed workflow engine written entirely in Go. Some highlights: * Tasks are executed in a Docker container * Can run stand-alone or distributed * Highly extensible * Able to enforce limits (CPU/RAM) per task * Web UI Would love the get your feedback on it, and find out if this could be useful.

Hello HN, I’m excited to share something we’ve been working on: Cloud Troubleshooting Labs. This tool provides on-demand environments for engineers to practice hands-on troubleshooting with AWS, GCP, Azure, and Kubernetes. What it does: We use Pulumi to spin up these environments. Each scenario includes a diagram and an explanation of the available IT infrastructure. Engineers are tasked with fixing configuration issues to make the application work. Depending on the test type, the environment could range from a simple terminal to a full cloud environment or a web-based VSCode. Many of our…

I've been really into tracking my biomarkers lately. However, I've found it a pain to deal with blood test reports from different healthcare providers, each with their own unique format. So I built a solution - a web app that automatically extracts biomarkers from any blood test report and organizes them into a beautiful health dashboard, complete with trend graphs. No more manual data entry into spreadsheets! Check it out: https://www.biotracker.me It's a free web app that: * Automatically extracts biomarkers from any blood test report (PDF or image) * Creates visual trends of…

I've been working on a platform that uses LLMs to build maintain and manage k8s clusters on any cloud. The system writes infra as code to your Github repos and automatically containerizes and scales any services (public or private). The goal is to give your average engineer a vercel-like deployment experience for any service in any language at minimal cost. We have humans involved at the moment auditing LLM outputs and keeping an eye on clusters. We are looking for folks who may be thinking about their first infra/devops hire. Just connect your github and your cloud provider. The system…

We have been working on tools for safe debloating of software for a few years now at the university. BLAFS is one of our first tools to release for file debloating, a bloat-aware filesystem for container debloating. It detects the files used by the container, and the debloats the container removing the unused files. The debloated containers are fully functional and can run the same workload as the original containers, but with a much smaller size and faster deployment.
