24 alternatives to Browser MCP – Automate your browser using Cursor, Claude, VS Code
Browser MCP connects AI applications to your browser so you can automate tasks using AI. Supported by Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, and more.
Browser MCP is a development tool that enables users to automate browser interactions through Cursor, Claude, or VS Code. It allows developers to control web browsers programmatically from their code editor… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. AI Browser▲143Hey HN! I built Browser AI after getting frustrated with the official Playwright MCP server in Claude Code. If you've used it, you know the pain: - 20+ separate tools that Claude has to juggle (click, fill, navigate, wait_for_selector, etc.) - Context window explosions from verbose screenshot data and DOM snapshots - Constant tool selection errors where Claude picks the wrong tool or forgets parameters Browser AI wraps Playwright MCP with a single natural language interface. Instead of Claude managing dozens of tools, you get one: browser_ai.execute. Just tell it what you want in plain…

Hi HN! Excited to share our MCP Server at Hyperbrowser - something we’ve been working on for a few days. We think it’s a pretty neat way to connect LLMs and IDEs like Cursor / Windsurf to the internet. Our MCP server exposes seven tools for data collection and browsing: 1. `scrape_webpage` - Extract formatted (markdown, screenshot etc) content from any webpage 2. `crawl_webpages` - Navigate through multiple linked pages and extract LLM-friendly formatted content 3. `extract_structured_data` - Convert messy HTML into structured JSON 4. `search_with_bing` - Query the web and get results…

MCP Defender▲152Hi HN, MCP Defender is an open source desktop app that automatically proxies your MCP traffic in AI apps like Cursor, Claude, Windsurf and VSCode. It then scans all requests and responses between the apps and the MCP tools they call. If it detects anything malicious, it alerts you and lets you allow or block the tool call. While the threat landscape of MCP is still being actively researched, there are dangerous things that MCP Defender can block today. For example, a developer asks Cursor to fix a Github issue with an attached crash log. However, the Github issue was created by an attacker…

I’ve been experimenting with embedding an Claude Code/Cursor-style coding agent directly into the browser. At a high level, the agent generates and maintains userscripts and CSS that are re-applied on page load. Rather than just editing DOM via JS in console the agent is treating the page, and the DOM as a file. The models are often trained in RL sandboxes with full access to the filesystem and bash, so they are really good at using it. So to make the agent behave well, I've simulated this environment. The whole state of a page and scripts is implemented as a virtual filesystem hacked…

I got tired of playwright-mcp eating through Claude's 200K token limit, so I built this using the new Claude Skills system. Built it with Claude Code itself. Instead of sending accessibility tree snapshots on every action, Claude just writes Playwright code and runs it. You get back screenshots and console output. That's it. 314 lines of instructions vs a persistent MCP server. Full API docs only load if Claude needs them. Same browser automation, way less overhead. Works as a Claude Code plugin or manual install. Token limit issue:…

Hi, I'm Daniel from Zep. I've integrated the Cursor IDE with Graphiti, our open-source temporal knowledge graph framework, to provide Cursor with persistent memory across sessions. The goal was simple: help Cursor remember your coding preferences, standards, and project specs, so you don't have to constantly remind it. Before this integration, Cursor (an AI-assisted IDE many of us already use daily) lacked a robust way to persist user context. To solve this, I used Graphiti’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, which allows structured data exchange between the IDE and Graphiti's temporal…

Hi HN, I built webctl because I was frustrated by the gap between curl and full browser automation frameworks like Playwright. I initially built this to solve a personal headache: I wanted an AI agent to handle project management tasks on my company’s intranet. I needed it to persist cookies across sessions (to handle SSO) and then scrape a Kanban board. Existing AI browser tools (like current MCP implementations) often force unsolicited data into the context window—dumping the full accessibility tree, console logs, and network errors whether you asked for them or not. webctl is an attempt…

Hi all! I normally work on the PyTorch project but I've been on baby leave for the past month, so I've been playing around with AI as a user rather than a framework implementor. I really liked the agent experience with Claude Code, but I couldn't really justify spending so many dollars on API costs for random side projects. I already pay for a Claude Pro subscription though, and it turns out you can simulate many of Claude Code's features with an MCP. If you have a Pro subscription, check this out! I think it really captures the Claude Code experience quite well, without forcing you to pay…
