I couldn't find a decent tool to dynamically update IP address in my Cloudflare account, so I created one for me. Thought share with others. It can be run directly, as a scheduled task, and as a docker container. Only API token and target domain is required.

Hi hackers, I made a simple bash tool to update 'A' records in Cloudflare for users with dynamic IPs. I wanted to have a tool to keep a couple of DNS updated with my homelab dynamic IP so I wrote this very simple bash script. There are tools that already solve this dynamic IP issue, but I find the simplicity of a bash script way more convenient than any tool that needs installation, complex configuration, a Python runtime or whatnot. We launched an API for custom hostnames today. A simple HTTP post with a hostname gets a temp hostname with CNAME/a record instructions, as soon as DNS is setup we issue SSL and start accepting traffic for that hostname. I recently discovered Cloudflare Email Routing. It's a super sweet feature within Cloudflare for creating disposable emails. Basically, if you have a domain connected to Cloudflare - you can create email addresses like "[email protected]" that can forward emails to your primary inbox (Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, etc.).
