24 alternatives to ConceptViz
I built ConceptViz (https://conceptviz.app ) for teachers who spend too much time searching or drawing diagrams for science and math lessons. You type a short description like “ray diagram for a convex lens”, “cell mitosis stages” or “series vs parallel circuit for grade 8”, and it generates clean, high-contrast, white-background diagrams that drop straight into slides, worksheets, or exams. It’s focused on clarity and consistency rather than fancy “AI art”. You can pick an approximate grade level so the diagram is simpler or more detailed. It’s free to try right now. I’d love…

This is a recent addition to Vexlio which I think the HN crowd may find interesting or useful. TL;DR: easy creation of interactive diagrams, meaning diagrams that have mouse click/hover hooks that you can use to display pop-up content. The end result can be shared with a no-sign-in-required web link. My thought is that this is useful for system docs, onboarding or user guides, presentations, etc. Anything where there is a high-level view that should remain uncluttered + important metadata or details that still need to be available somewhere. You can try it out without signing up for…

In the past I've used declarative diagram generation tools like Mermaid.js a lot for quickly drawing up things but for presentations or deliverables I find that I have to then move the generated diagrams over to a tool like Lucidchart which allows full control of the organization and customization. Therefore I am now working on this to combine the benefits of both into just one tool which can do both functions. The project is certainly in the early stages but if you find yourself making architecture diagrams I'd love to hear your thoughts on the idea or even a Github issue for a feature…

KnowViz▲7I built KnowViz: type any concept → get a structured explanation + a teaching‑style infographic in minutes. Why: I'm a grad student. While experimenting with Google’s Nano Banana, I found it might help learning—not just flashy demos. What’s different - Teaching-first output: the goal isn’t just “pretty images” — it’s “learnable visuals.” The structure is designed to be teachable and scannable. - Nano Banana for learning: popular and cool, yes — but here it’s explored for pedagogy. Early results are promising; I’d love your feedback. How it works - First text, then visuals: first generate a…

I'm enthralled with using pen plotters to make generative art. Last August at SIGGRAPH, I built an interactive experience for others to see how code can be used to make visual art. The linked blog post is my trials and tribulations of linking a MIDI controller to one of these algorithms and sending its output to a plotter, so that people may witness the end-to-end experience.

This is a little toy project of mine that lets you simulate digital logic graphs. It was inspired by Minecraft's Redstone and the Piet esolang. It's got some serious drawbacks-- you write circuits as PNGs and simulate them with a Python interface. It's slow to run and slow to experiment with. And it is certainly difficult to use for people with any kind of color blindness. But despite that, I hope this can still be a fun toy!

Hi all, just posting an update to my previous Show HN, where I announced a side-project I worked on which was a (web version) of a multi-user, notepad style calculator: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31817997 After a couple of user requests (and having a good think about it) I decided to migrate the web UI to create a Mac and Windows desktop app. After using it a little bit, I feel this is a much better experience than the webapp, and reduces a lot of the friction if I wanted to run a few small calculations. You can find the download links below:…

Creating high-quality scientific figures can be time-consuming and challenging, even though sketching ideas on paper is relatively easy. Furthermore, recreating existing figures that are not stored in formats preserving semantic information is equally complex. To tackle this problem, we introduce DeTikZify, a novel multimodal language model that automatically synthesizes scientific figures as semantics-preserving TikZ graphics programs based on sketches and existing figures. We also introduce a Monte Carlo Tree Search-based inference algorithm that enables DeTikZify to iteratively refine its…

Hi, I'm a high school teacher from Australia and I've built what I'd like to think is a pretty nifty ChatGPT powered presentation tool for teachers. I'd love it if you could have a look at it and give me some of your feedback. I don't think there's much overlap with the HN crowd and school teachers, but I've been coming here for many years and thought I'd post here and see what you all think. Check it out if you have a minute and I'd be super happy to hear your feedback too. https://www.slidehero.ai/ You can jump in and have a play with the tool all you like ;) Cheers, Eli

Decks▲182I’m building Decks, an application where you create study decks that consists of notes, flashcards, YouTube videos, and ChatGPT conversations. Notes and flashcards can be attached to YouTube videos. And your ChatGPT conversations are searchable and organizable through tags and folders. The concept is that this is study application where you can keep all your materials related to a subject in one place. Would appreciate any feedback you might have. Thanks!

Hi HN! I couldn’t find a truly user-friendly PlantUML editor, so I set out to build one. PlantDiagrams lets you describe a diagram in plain English; it generates the PlantUML and renders it instantly. The goal is to shorten the path from idea → diagram without fighting the editor. Tech: - Next.js / Supabase / FLy.io / Vercel Highlights - Natural-language to PlantUML with live preview - Export diagrams (SVG/PNG/TXT) - Organize work with Projects - Share via link; optional comments for review - Sample gallery to open and tweak examples Try it:…
