Products that do what Diamants, an open-source drone swarm to fight wildfires does
I live in the South of France (Var region), where wildfires destroy our forests and endanger lives every summer. This project is my attempt to build a concrete, open-source tool to help firefighters.

I built Signet in Go to see if an autonomous system could handle the wildfire monitoring loop that people currently run by hand - checking satellite feeds, pulling up weather, looking at terrain and fuels, deciding whether a detection is actually a fire worth tracking. All the data already exists: NASA FIRMS thermal detections, GOES-19 imagery, NWS forecasts, LANDFIRE fuel models, USGS elevation, Census population data, OpenStreetMap. The problem is it arrives from different sources on different cadences in different formats. Most of the system is deterministic plumbing - ingestion, spatial…

I built LocalGPT over 4 nights as a Rust reimagining of the OpenClaw assistant pattern (markdown-based persistent memory, autonomous heartbeat tasks, skills system). It compiles to a single ~27MB binary — no Node.js, Docker, or Python required. Key features: - Persistent memory via markdown files (MEMORY, HEARTBEAT, SOUL markdown files) — compatible with OpenClaw's format - Full-text search (SQLite FTS5) + semantic search (local embeddings, no API key needed) - Autonomous heartbeat runner that checks tasks on a configurable interval - CLI + web interface + desktop GUI - Multi-provider:…

Sup HN, So I got tired of bouncing between Flightradar, MarineTraffic, and Twitter every time something kicked off globally, so I wrote a dashboard to aggregate it all locally. It’s called Shadowbroker. I’ll admit I leaned way too hard into the "movie hacker" aesthetic for the UI, but the actual pipeline underneath is real. It pulls commercial/military ADS-B, the AIS WebSocket stream (about 25,000+ ships), N2YO satellite telemetry, and GDELT conflict data into a single MapLibre instance. Getting this to run without melting my browser was the hardest part. I'm running this on a laptop…

We have built Tarit as a hypervisor built from ground up for running AI agent and RL environments. It is based on rust-vmm and can be used as a replacement for firecracker. Firecracker was built to serve a different need of primarily serverless compute and hence does not have primitives like live snapshots without pausing the VM operations. We also provide a basic orchestrator that handles placement of the microVMs, creating clusters with HA, maintaining a warm pool of VMs, and takes care of setting up networking and monitoring. Our benchmarks on a metal instance shows an acquire VM from…

hey hn, i built beehive for myself mostly. it has gotten to the point where my work consists in supervising oc or cc labor at tasks for multiple issues in parallel. my set up used to be zellij with a couple tabs, each tab working in a separate dir and it was a pain to manage all that. i know i could use git worktrees but they're kind of complicated, if you don't know how to use them it is easy to mess up, and i just prefer letting agents run in separate dirs with their own .git and not risk it. while i like zellij and use it inside beehive, i dont like the tabs and i forget where i am half…

Hi all, This project release is a long time coming. It was a big uphill battle, and by far my largest endeavor so far. I built it for Sandstorm because I believe in Sandstorm's model, and I wanted to show that there's still life and potential in it. If you're inspired, joining our OpenCollective would be really helpful: https://opencollective.com/sandstormcommunity (keeping in mind that Sandstorm has now moved from its original leadership to a community project https://sandstorm.org/news/2023-11-03-from-io-to-org). You can also join our mailing list or…
