Products that do what Dittofeed v0.10.0 – Transactional Messaging does
Hi HN, we just released Dittofeed v0.10.0. Dittofeed is an open-source (MIT-licensed) omnichannel customer engagement platform similar to Customer.io, Braze, and Iterable. This is a big release for us which includes: - Support for transactional messaging via Event Entry journeys. This was a highly requested feature among community members. Read more here: https://docs.dittofeed.com/resources/journey-nodes/entry#event-entry - Support for new email service providers, Amazon SES, and Postmark. Amazon SES, in particular, has been a long-requested feature, given SES’s…

Hey HN, we’ve just released Dittofeed v0.5.0, with the primary change being the addition of SMS as a messaging channel. Dittofeed is an open source (MIT licensed) omnichannel customer engagement platform, similar to Customer.io and Iterable. We added: - Twilio-based SMS messaging. You can create SMS templates and customer journeys within Dittofeed. SMS is a great channel for B2C software companies, looking to engage with their users. For example, e-commerce businesses commonly use SMS to support checkout flows. We'll be making further enhancements to Dittofeed's SMS support in the coming…

Hi HN, we've released Dittofeed v0.4.0, a significant update primarily focused on facilitating self-hosting. Dittofeed is an open source (MIT licensed) alternative to platforms like customer.io, mailchimp, klaviyo, iterable etc. Self-hosting is particularly useful if you: - Want to evaluate Dittofeed without a long-term commitment - Prefer fixed, non-volume based pricing models - Aim to keep all personally identifiable information within your own infrastructure In this version, we introduced 'Dittofeed Lite,' which merges the dashboard, API, and worker services, simplifying deployment, along…

Hi HN, Chandler from Dittofeed here. We’ve made a way to embed messaging features into any application because we saw a lot of engineers reimplementing the same things like drag and drop workflow builders, user segmentation builders, and template editors. This is especially true in vertical SaaS where you may have an app for healthcare providers, for example, and you want to give them communication tools to reach out to patients. It’s a non-trivial lift to build messaging features, and it can end up taking engineering teams 6-12 months to implement. So now you can just consume any number of…

Hi all! Excited to share cc.dev after months of work and refinement. The idea for this product came from trying to do email marketing for my side project, CubeDesk, a site where Rubik's Cube enthusiasts can time themselves, race with one another, train algorithms — it's a fun niche! With over 40k users, sending even a single campaign was becoming expensive with MailChimp. I knew AWS SES would be much cheaper, but it’s just an API with none of the other necessities you need for a robust email marketing platform. Beyond cost, I was also frustrated with having to make sure my database was…

Hey HN, excited to share our open source tool with the community. We wanted to build an open source omnichannel tool where you can design customer journeys with a drag and drop editor. You can use our tool for example to design an onboarding flow so that users who sign up to your site can receive a series of predetermined emails and sms. Give it a spin and let us know how we can improve it. We also made it so you can self host.

Hey HN, we are sharing again, after a year of updates! Laudspeaker (https://laudspeaker.com/) is an open source customer engagement suite (also called marketing automation software). If you've used tools like Braze, One Signal, Airship, Iterable, Customer.io or some others, Laudspeaker is an alternative to these. Here is a quick demo: https://www.loom.com/share/4b309390ee274ea491981e1394e9abc4. And here is a link to sign up and try free (no cc needed): https://app.laudspeaker.com/signup. I wrote this over the last couple of weeks using Rails 3, Twilio and a variety of Gems, putting in about 2 hours per day. I'd love any feedback from the HN community on any aspects of the site (design, API construction, documentation, marketing, pricing which is TBD). On a related note: I have to say that I'm really flying with Rails 3. Typically I roll with Django, but have been super impressed with the Rails 3. Feels really clean, and there are some Gems that make the more mundane parts of the webapp construction fun and agile: Haml/Sass, blueprint, Fancy-buttons, Devise. I'll probably…

Hey HN, I'm a longtime reader and this is my first Show HN (exciting!) It's a collaboration between me and two friends, and we're building this upon another app we made called EmailYak, an API to receive email. We're trying something new and releasing the documentation to an app while we're still building it. We'd love feedback. Do you belong to any of these categories? 1) You've built an app with two distinct groups of users (say, people with cars and those looking for a ride) and they were able to communicate with each other. Did you expose personal email addresses? Did you send…
