i made an esoteric programming language which i call spellscript. every program is a "spell" written in a "grimoire," and you have to use keywords like summon, enchant, inscribe, and conjure. it's literally read like a spellbook because the syntax consists of all natural language, and newlines are optional. your code can now be an essay, like everybody wants! for example, if you want to print something, you'd write: `begin the grimoire. inscribe whispers of "hello, world!". close the grimoire.` it has variables, dynamic typing, arrays, functions, conditionals, loops, string manipulation,…

We migrated a big relational research database to a file-based solution - requirements were: - Super fast and easy editability for users - Highest performance for parsing/validating >10K documents on every user change. Our trials with YAML/TOML showed us that we wanted something both faster [3][4] and easier [4], something tailored for file-based content management ... and after months of research & development it's now publicly available (under MIT license) for everyone! For the past 3 years, I've been creating a new 2D game programming language where the multiplayer is completely automatic. The idea is that someone who doesn't even know what a "remote procedure call" is can make a multiplayer game by just setting `maxHumanPlayers=5` and it "just works". The trick is the whole game simulation, including all the concurrent threads, can be executed deterministically and snapshotted for rollback netcode. Normally when coding multiplayer you have to worry about following "the rules of multiplayer" like avoiding non-determinism, or not modifying entities your…

This is a hobby project of mine that I started a few years ago to learn about programming language implementation. It was created 95% without AI, although a few recent commits include code from Gemini CLI. I started out following Crafting Interpreters, but gradually branched off that until I had almost nothing left in common. Tech stack: Rust, Cranelift (JIT compilation), LALRPOP (parser). I spent the past 2 weeks making this toy programming language. I basically forked the Go scanner/parser, and changed the syntax to have functions return a single value. This enable proper Result/Option type to be used as well as propagating errors with an operator. I also wanted to have short "type inferred" anonymous functions to be able to use functions like Map/Reduce/Filter, without having to use 100 characters to specify the types.

Hello, folks. I'm Jiang, the author of ESInfer. I love writing Javascript because it has a prosperous ecosystem and is quick to get my hands dirty. However, sometimes it's painful when the flow is not fast to follow due to the lack of a type system. To solve this, I wrote ESInfer, a statical inference tool, to automatically type check and generate type annotations for Javascript. It works with pure Javascript without any add-ons to the language or user-space code and supports highly dynamic features, such as the modification of prototypes. It is still in the very early stage, which offers…
