Oh, hello. I didn't see you there. Did you ever wonder what it takes to build and launch a software product from scratch? Not a high-level summary. Not a short essay that describes a year of development. Detailed, day to day activities. A captain's log. Mistakes and pivots. Technology choices. Marketing activities. Design considerations. You might know me as the creator of SumatraPDF. I'm starting a new software product from scratch and I decided to make it an experiment of building in public. I hope to inspire others to build more software by de-mystifying the process of creation. I'm on…

FoundersWall▲35I used to be just a blogger. Now I build internet products, still without code, using AI, design, and taste. I was building in public on X for last 2 months. And honestly, I got tired of how it became performative and started to feel fake. I shipped 2 products. Both failed to get any real traction. I kept sneaking into popular builders’ profiles, hoping to learn how they do it. One thing I kept seeing everywhere, product launch directories. I thought here is the scope. So I started building one. Same UI like the rest. Nothing special. Suddenly one day when it was half built, I realized…

Hi HN, I started a small newsletter to document what I’m learning while building projects — the decisions, mistakes, and experiments that usually stay behind the scenes. It’s not a growth hack or a polished media thing. Just short write-ups about what worked, what didn’t, and how I’m thinking through problems as I go. I’ve only published a couple of posts so far, but it’s grown to 1,000+ readers, which surprised me. Sharing here in case it’s useful to others who enjoy building in public or learning from real-world attempts rather than theory. Happy to hear feedback or ideas on what would be…

I am a product designer by profession, and recently, I ventured into coding and started developing applications. Today, I'm excited to share a project I've been passionately working on. The concept is a voice-activated journal: just voice-record your thoughts, and the app will transcribe them into text. I built this to help those like me who struggle to build a journaling habit. Also has features that encourage habbit building like a streak/tracker and a threshold marker encouraging you to record a minimum amount. I used OpneAI Whisper to power the transcriptions which means you can…

We got inspired to create a landing page builder to help us test startup ideas. Our goal is to build tools to help you quickly validate a concept and engage with potential users. LampBuilder is a free and fast landing page generator that aims to become a go-to tool for kick starting new ideas. We plan to keep the landing page generator and custom domain hosting free forever. Future plans are to add more components, a code base download option, waitlist functionality, pre-order payments/subscriptions and to expand into a MVP product builder. It will be great to hear your feedback on what…

I created http://devtest.net as a weekend project, and I'm pretty proud of it from a technical and UI standpoint. The problem is, I've built this by myself in a bit of a vacuum, to "scratch my own itch", and I don't know if this is useful to anyone other than me. I'm also not so hot on the business side and don't really know what I'm doing. Basically, I'm looking for some advice, now that I've actually launched, what now? One thing that this has shown me is that I'm capable of putting together a pretty decent web application on my own in my spare time. Should I stick with this idea, or…

Howdy friends. I've been a zero to one product manager for 12 plus years and along the way I kept borrowing pieces from different discovery frameworks until I had a methodology of my own, one that actually raises the odds of an idea succeeding. This does not replace user interviews obviously, but it leads you in the right direction. Looking forward for your feedback

I’m specifically looking for a tool a user shared on here that facilitated writing for content by scrolling up and disappearing text as new text was inputted. I believe it was a HTML/JSS only solution - a small personal project. I’ve done a lot of focused searches, but haven’t been able to find this comment. That said, I love these sorts of projects. I know they’re a self-indulgence and often a distraction. I’m celebrating that for a moment, personally. Please share your favorites writing tools, the smaller and more personal the better.

Storied▲11Hey everyone! I built Storied to make journaling feel effortless. Each day, you get a prompt by email. You just hit reply, and that becomes your journal entry. No blank pages, no pressure, no excuses— just writing. Would love your thoughts or feedback! https://storied.email

Hey, just wanted to share with you guys and app that I built and deployed in a day with Lovable. So, as a founder I always wanted to have an advisor but my budget would always be less, then on the other hand hand I had Paul's essays on Startup Advice, which I never read because I was busy building stuff. Hence, I built this product which comes into a sweet spot of both at the same time being more reasonable and capable than the alternative. ps: it's running on a reasoning model and tbh I've been able to gather pretty good insights from it. Note to PG: If you're seeing this. I'm your big fan.…

We've just (re-)launched Arta Labs! Join our subreddit for a give-to-get feedback system. Before you can post your idea, you must review 4 other ones first. This provides a better incentive structure than the take-take environments many other forums tend to be. Additionally, we have also set up a private community for aspiring or existing entrepreneurs working on ideas, big or small, to build alongside each other. We organise co-working days, private group chat, a knowledge lab, are also building a mentor network where members can book 1-1 calls with experts. Find out more at…

I was working on validating some of my own project ideas. While trying to find how to validate my idea, I realized the process itself could be turned into a tool. A few late nights later, I had something that takes any startup idea, fetches discussions, summarizes sentiment, and gives a quick “validation score.” It’s very rough, but it works, and it’s already making me rethink a few of my own ideas. It's still a work in progress. I don't actually know what I'm doing, but I know it's worth it. Honest feedback welcomed! Live demo here: https://validationly.com/
