It is the final piece of the FastAPI server-side rendering stack I started building with FastHX and htmy (the two dependencies of this project besides FastAPI). I built FastAPI-MCP as an open-source library, and recently had to completely refactor it, abandoning FastMCP wrappers in favor of the low-level MCP SDK. The new version gives more control over which endpoints are exposed, supports complex request bodies, and allows flexible routing options. We were using django-easy-audit to track CRUD and API events in Django. The problem: every action meant an extra database write, which slowed transactions, increased infra costs, and left us with audit tables that weren’t great for analytics. I built this library because I kept rewriting the same fetch wrapper for every project. Hi HN - Marius (mbuleandra) and I built Restly as a side project. Restly generates a user-friendly tutorial against any OpenAPI spec. While building public-facing APIs, we found that writing these guides by hand took a lot of work. Many OpenAPI specs were too large to send to GPT-4 / Claude directly, and even when we could send them, we experienced lost-in-the-middle and hallucination issues.
