24 alternatives to FoldMation – Interactive origami learning and creation

Hi, I've created an application where you can follow step by step origami fold instructions, and a Creator where you can make these interactive folds. On comparing to video instructions, you have the ability to quickly skip/rewind steps and replay a complicated step many times. On the creation side, there have been one or two attempts at this before, but those solutions rely on mouse drags as the user interface. This greatly limited the kinds of folds possible. The foldMation Creator uses commands, keywords and values to compose a domain specific language/step and provides a…

FoldMation is an interactive origami learning platform with two core features: a step-by-step instruction viewer that allows users to skip, rewind, and replay fold steps, and a Creator tool for building custom… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. Hi HN, I watch A LOT of educational YouTube videos but wasn't forgetting a good chunk of the details because I was only really passively watching. So I made a tool that generates quiz questions/flashcards from YouTube videos, and uses spaced repetition like Anki or Duolingo to keep it in memory. Let me know if you find it cool/useful (or terrible ) or if you want to know a bit about the details!

I've been building prototypes of new AI learning tools for months, but I recently learned that 3blue1brown open sourced his incredible math animation library, Manim, and that LLMs could generate code for it without any fine-tuning. So I made a tool that automatically generates animated math/science explanations in the style of 3blue1brown using Manim from any text prompt. In the past I've used declarative diagram generation tools like Mermaid.js a lot for quickly drawing up things but for presentations or deliverables I find that I have to then move the generated diagrams over to a tool like Lucidchart which allows full control of the organization and customization. Therefore I am now working on this to combine the benefits of both into just one tool which can do both functions. The project is certainly in the early stages but if you find yourself making architecture diagrams I'd love to hear your thoughts on the idea or even a Github issue for a feature…

I want to share the tool I have been working on for almost a year. It takes a multi-frame Figma design and converts it to native HTML5. Then applies a preset animation to elements based on their type. The result is an animated HTML5 banner ad from a static Figma design, with each frame appearing in sequence and delivering the marketing message. For example: - Frame 1: Name the problem - Frame 2: Show your product - Frame 3: CTA or disclaimer You can process many sizes at once, such as 300x600 with 2 frames + 728x90 with 4 frames + 1080x1080 with only one frame. So all creatives are animated…

I'm enthralled with using pen plotters to make generative art. Last August at SIGGRAPH, I built an interactive experience for others to see how code can be used to make visual art. The linked blog post is my trials and tribulations of linking a MIDI controller to one of these algorithms and sending its output to a plotter, so that people may witness the end-to-end experience.

Hi! We noticed that our users extensively use Shuffle (a visual editor for developers) in conjunction with Cursor. That's why we built the Shuffle CLI, a lightweight tool that creates a seamless bridge between Shuffle and Cursor. With this CLI, you can: * Sync your visual components from Shuffle directly into Cursor projects * Automatically generate clean, editable code from your designs * Keep your design and dev workflows tightly integrated without copy-pasting or re-exporting We built this to reduce the friction between prototyping and production. If you're using Cursor as your IDE and…

Looking at websites such as Clerk, I began thinking that design engineers might be some kind of wizards. I wanted to understand how they do it, so I started reverse-engineering their components out of curiosity. One thing led to another, and I ended up building a small library of reusable, animated components based on what I found. The library is built in React and Framer Motion. I’d love to hear your feedback

I made an animation programming language that you can type into a textarea. I make little games with it. Now other people can customize the games I make with it. I've been working on canvas language for 15 years now. Not very successful, but editable gifs turned out okay. Since it's my passion, I keep trying, and my latest is editable games - I'm not officially calling it that though. I've had some interest in advergames and this would allow designers to easily customize games for their clients - the hidden objects game being the best example for this, and the only one made specifically for…
