Products that do what Free PDF redactor that runs client-side does

I recently needed to verify past employment and to do so I was going to upload paystubs from a previous employer, however I didn't want to share my salary in that role. I did a quick search online and most sites required sign-up or weren't clear about document privacy. I conceded and signed up for a free trial of Adobe Acrobat so I could use their PDF redaction feature. I figured there should be a dead simple way of doing this that's private, so I decided to create it myself. What this does is rasterize each page to an image with your redactions burned in, then it rebuilds the PDF so the…

Hey everyone, I recently built a free and open-source tool that lets you manually redact PDFs and images right in your browser—no sign-ups, no watermarks. I also added an AI-powered auto-redaction feature to detect and remove sensitive info. Since this part uses external processing (OCR + AI), there are usage limits: you can auto-redact up to 3 single-page PDFs or images for free each day. Higher usage and multi-page support require a paid account. Right now, it works great for removing sensitive details like names, addresses, and emails, but I’d love to get your thoughts: • What redaction…

Here's a neat hack I made recently to do basic PDF editing directly in a browser—without having to upload anything to a server. I was initially looking for a way to do simple PDF modification (extracting pages, merging, and adding page numbers). There are some good server-side tools for this (QPDF, PDFTk, PDFBox, iText, Hummus), but for better speed and privacy I really wanted a 100% client-side solution. There are a few good JavaScript PDF libraries for reading and displaying PDFs (pdf.js) and creating PDFs from scratch (jsPDF, PDFKit), but I couldn't find any for editing existing PDFs. So,…

Hi HN, I built RedactMyPDF.com after struggling to manually redact a large legal PDF, and I found that existing tools were either expensive or clunky. RedactMyPDF uses AI (Gemini) + OCR + human review to make redaction fast but safe: Auto-detects sensitive info based on document context (names, addresses, IDs, etc.) Full control to accept, reject, or add redactions Works on scanned PDFs (OCR with Tesseract) Secure & GDPR-compliant (AES-256, EU storage, one-click deletion) Irreversible blackouts + metadata removal Audit logs (CSV export for compliance) Try it here: www.redactmypdf.com Thanks!

Hello HN! Being a software engineer and an SEO guy I wrote a heap of tools and scripts to make my life easier. Now I've decided to share some of them with the community, and made a small site where I will be publishing them. They are all completely free (yes, free forever) and you don't even need to sign up for the site. Just use the thing as you like, no limits. Currently you can access 4 instruments: - Backlink retriever - Thin/weak content analyzer - Traffic trend analysis - Visitor list retriever I am planning on releasing more free tools with time, and trying to stay original by…

Hi HN, I built a collection of 40+ PDF tools using Kimi k2.5 (with about $50 worth of credits) and a lot of “vibe coding”. The site: https://pdfuck.com (almost forgot I owned this domain ) What it does: 40+ PDF-related tools Completely free No downloads, everything runs in the browser All processing is done locally in your browser for better privacy It’s deployed on Cloudflare, so the running cost is basically close to zero. This started as a small experiment and slowly grew into a fairly complete PDF toolbox. I’d really appreciate feedback on performance, UX, and what tools you…

Hello everyone, I was tired of bloated invoicing apps, paywalls, and forced signups, so I built PineBill. It runs entirely in your browser: fill in products and customer details on the left, see a live preview on the right, then export/download a PDF. No ads, no tracking, no account. I first shared it on Reddit and got a bunch of thoughtful feedback; it’s now at ~3k monthly active users. I’d love your critiques, bug reports, and feature ideas. I made a simple site that allows you to upload files. It requires no sign up and 100% free. The biggest advantage is that it returns you the direct URL to your file. So you can use it to store images for MD-based forum posts. Or put in your site's . I use the Cloudflare R2 storage which offers zero egress fees. So I pay $0 of transfer costs. I added a simple anti-nsfw files check and a simple anti-malware check. Please do not try to break it. Thanks! (>‿◠)

Hi HN, I’m Linn, the creator of ToolKuai (https://toolkuai.com). Like many of you, I’ve always been wary of "free" online file converters. Most of them are black boxes: you upload your private documents or images to a remote server, and you have no idea where that data ends up or how it’s being used to train models. I wanted to build a suite of tools (Video/Image compressor, OCR, AI Background Remover) that runs entirely in the browser. No files ever leave your machine. The Tech Stack To make this performant enough to rival server-side processing, I leaned heavily into modern…

The title says it all really, it's quite a simple system that takes plain text and formats it nicely based on templates and outputs the result to a PDF in one click. It's currently free and easy to test directly from my site's front page. I developed it because I was job hunting and giving ChatGPT the job description and my resume and asking for it to rejig my resume to better fit the job. I then needed to format the result each time and thought there had to be a better, automated, way. I couldn't find anything that just formatted text at the click of a button - outside of the usual markdown…
