Products that do what Hacker News API on SerenAI X402 Gateway does
We added the official Hacker News API to SerenAI's x402 Gateway. AI agents can now query HN stories, comments, and users through the same MCP interface they use for Seren's paid publishers like Firecrawl and Perplexity. We're aiming to deliver greater composability: an agent can pull HN discussions (free), scrape competitor sites with Firecrawl, and get AI analysis from Perplexity, all in one protocol. We built a competitive intelligence example that tracks Show HN launches and competitor mentions across HN. GitHub: https://github.com/serenorg/x402-mcp-server Install: npx…

I'm Seth, creator of discourse.fm, a browser-based tool/platform to create live audio chat rooms. I just launched an extension of the site - https://hackernews.discourse.fm/ - which pulls stories in real-time from the HN site using the public API, and enables anyone to join a live audio discussion about the story (think Clubhouse rooms autogenerated for HN stories). Once you enter a room, you can grab the link generated for a room and paste it back to the comments on the HN story to invite more participants. hackernews.discourse.fm is both a full-fledged product and a…

Hi HN, I built an AI that can interact with the Hacker News API: https://hn.aidev.run You can ask questions like: - What on hackernews about AI? - What on hackernews about iPhone? - What's trending on hackernews? - What are users showing on hackernews? - What are users asking on hackernews? - Summarize this story: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=39156778 It uses function calling to query the HN api. To answer questions about a particular topic, it’ll search its knowledge base (a vector db that is periodically updated with the “top stories”) and get details about…

Hello community. Some time ago I was trying to create a project for my students using Hacker News data. As you might know, HN offers an official API [0], but it's based on Firebase and I felt it's main usage is to build clients, rather than consult data. I found out that Algolia also provides an official REST API [1]. It's exactly what I needed: the ability to "search" HN. Either by keywords, type of stories (Show HN, Ask HN, etc) and/or date. So I created a thin python wrapper on top of Algolia's Search API: https://github.com/santiagobasulto/python-hacker-news The…

I wrote this small client to read hackernews from my favorite editor. It's currently using an external HTTP API [0] but I'm working on my own proxy [1]. I'd love to actually scrape and cache all the info I need using lisp. However, my time constraints are keeping me away of that goal. I could definitely use some help here! :) I'm also planning to add support for comments and posting new things. Any feedback is highly appreciated! Thank you! The concept was to rethink the way we browsed Craigslist and shopped online. The main section, the "homepage" is a tree map of recent craigslist posting sorted by popularity using a slightly modified version of Hacker News' ranking algorithm. The newest page is a masonry view of the realtime stream of the craiglist posts as they are added to the system (much like Hacker News' newest page.) The top page is the masonry view version of the homepage. The game page is a FaceMash-like game for the posts, which influences the overall scores and popularity of items.

We’re George and Ann, and want to share a Hacker News specific browser extension that we have been working on. We all love the rich discussions in HN, but navigating long posts with multiple threads can sometimes be challenging. You get lost in the depth and breadth of the discussion. There are a few AI-based summarization tools, but they typically focus on summarizing the article rather than the comments, and thus miss the essence of threaded discussions. So, we built Hacker News Companion, a browser extension that makes it easy to navigate discussions and understand diverse viewpoints…

Based on your feedback (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=8874801) we've released a new version of the Hacker News Search. It's accessible through the search box in the footer of Hacker News. We hope you'll enjoy the new minimal design and the additional features. Feel free to give us your dream list of improvements :) ChangeLog: 2015-01-19 - Custom date range picker - Responsive design - New "comments[<>=]X" syntax to filter by number of comments - If the story doesn't have any URL, the link goes to the HN discussion - Here and there cosmetics improvements (less padding,…
