Hi all, I kept wasting time on social media, even though I’d promised myself I’d stay focused. Regular site blockers didn’t help. I needed something that felt annoying enough to break the habit. That’s how the idea came up: make the blocker ask me to say something embarrassing out loud before it lets me back in. If I actually have to yell “I’m a loser” into my mic. Even better - the louder I screamed, the more time I’d get. So I put together Scream to Unlock. It’s silly, but so far it’s done its job. My social feeds stay locked unless I really want them. I keep meeting so many hackers with great ideas, and they have either a hurdle, or a lack of a path to get to where they need to go. So I have created this form that anyone can fill in, and then share, with the hope that it will be seen by someone who can come along and help them. I want a tool that gives a voice, a loud-speaker, to hackers so that they're efforts get recognized, and get the support they need. Please feel free to fill in this form and then share it. Note: the Responses page doesn't update immediately. Google seems to republish the form every 5 minutes or so, so please wait…

So I just did my semi-annual "log in to Twitter to see if it's any good yet", and found that in my absence I had followed a few thousand new spam accounts. Sweet. That explains why they emailed me and forced me to change my password last year. Being Awesome, Twitter doesn't have any way to simply toss out all your followers and start from scratch. And none of the spammy apps claiming to do so actually will (even seemingly after charging you money to try). So instead, I just pulled open the Dev console and did this:…

Whether it is a designer ultra-tweeting about some conference she is at or a venture capitalist intensely describing his pursuit of the always-elusive "inbox zero", sometimes you just want to mute someone you follow on Twitter. This extensions allows you to do just that. You can easily put accounts that you follow in the penalty box, where they will be silenced and feel shame. When you have deemed their sins absolved, you can let them out, free to fill your Twitter stream again. Download: http://bit.ly/u1giXH Read About: http://bit.ly/tdqX6y Source: http://bit.ly/tmxvf1
