Hi HN,<p>I've posted a couple times here before (mostly within posts pertaining to Amit Gupta's search for a bone marrow donor) and I wanted to share a site I've been working on for the past 5 months or so that recently went live. http://giving.github.com A few weeks back, from a conversation around helping make the world a truly better place, we started a site where charities, organizations and those trying to make the world better could ask us programmers for help. The site is hard to establish as those doing meaningful work and in need of our help are sadly unaware of the programming community and spirit. But it has started to attract some requests - issues in github-mapping - that will hopefully propel it forward and serve to raise awareness with the good causes! I built this tool about a year ago to get really good at the supabase ecosystem. We were trying to raise money on the idea, but that didn't occur, so I wanted to open-source it, as I would love to give back to the commmunity. It allows you to invite friends and family to be helpers for child-care, meals, and transportation, and then you can create an event and they will get auto-invited to it and can choose to support you. It is using vue on the frontend and then supabase on the backend for auth, database, realtime, storage, and edge functions. Anyway, I hope someone finds it useful, there…

I created this website about a month ago to solve a problem I was facing myself as an aspiring digital nomad. It is very important to find an accommodation with fast and reliable Internet. I also specifically wanted places with Ethernet access to minimize latency as much as possible since I (and many others) use a VPN hosted back at home. The database is in its infancy but covers 11 countries so far. I realize the UX is very basic and a minimum viable product. I intend to have someone help me overhaul the design (with ReactJS perhaps) to make it mobile friendly and more appealing.
