I built simple Git-based CMS for Hugo static site generators. No backend, no database, no configs. Just login with Github, select your repo and start editing. If you use Hugo for blogging, feel free to check it out at https://github.com/arashthr/hugo-flow > Why did you make it? I wanted to be able to write posts on my phone, and it's not easy to do that with Markdown. Adding images is also always a headache: copy them, minimize and compress them, remember the correct syntax for images, and type the path. > How did you make it? I used Google Stitch for the design and…

Hi Hacker News! I made this project to read a WordPress export and create the markdown files for Hugo. It'll speed up the process of moving your blog over to Hugo and let you avoid a bunch of manual work. It came about when I was talking to somebody who was trying to move their site over and didn't want to manually copy and reformat all their posts. They had trouble finding a tool to do it, so I wrote one. I want to make sure it's useful to people before charging them, so it'll give you a download with 3 pages and 5 blog posts converted for free and without asking for any information. If you…

Inspired by the design and UI/UX of apps like Notion, and utility of open-source apps like StackEdit, I decided to create a minimalistic, local-only WYSIWYG Markdown editor. Some features worth highlighting: - Monaco editor and Prettier integration for code snippets - Tables (apparently the holy grail of WYSIWYG editing) - Embeds (for CodePen, CodeSandbox and YouTube, most useful for HTML or JSON exports) - Accepts Markdown paste-in, and "exports"/generates HTML, Markdown and JSON outputs - Collaboration (with real-time awareness and initial commenting system, available only when…

My partner usually writes substack posts which I then mirror to our website’s blog section. To automate this, I made a simple tool to scrape the post and clean it so that I can drop it to our blog easily. This might be useful to others as well. Oh and ofcourse you can instruct GPT to make any final edits :D

(spoiler: its XSLT) I've been working on a little demo for how to avoid copy-pasting header/footer boilerplate on a simple static webpage. My goal is to approximate the experience of Jekyll/Hugo but eliminate the need for a build step before publishing. This demo shows how to get basic templating features with XSL so you could write a blog post which looks like My Article some content hello hello Some properties which set this approach apart from other methods: - no build step (no need to setup Jekyll on the client or configure Github/Gitlab actions) - works on any webserver…

I've created and open-sourced an Astro developer blog template with an interactive theme changer that includes all 60 themes bundled with the JS code highlighter Shiki. Changing the theme affects the whole website including the code examples and Giscus comments. Inspired by the aesthetics of raw markdown, I wanted to create a beautiful blog like https://github.com/panr/hugo-theme-terminal but supercharged with a modern redesign and the incredible features of Astro. Features: - Simple configuration file - Multiple theme modes (single, light/dark/auto, select) -…

Hi HN, I built Ephe, open-source markdown paper for daily todos and thoughts. No sign-up, no ads, no subscriptions, no AI. ## Why I made this We have plenty of Markdown editors. And too many overwhelming to-do apps. But few tools combine both in a way that’s lightweight and focused. I thought that all I need is a single page to organize today. So I built Ephe. It uses CodeMirror v6, React(v19, React Compiler) and Vite with rolldown. ## What makes it different “Ephe” comes from ephemeral. The main goal is to organize what you need to do today. It isn’t for teams. It’s a quiet space for your…

`pandoc-sitegen` uses pandoc and mustache templating to turn a bunch of markdown files into a minimalist site, while still allowing for things like an automatic list of blog posts. I was really frustrated with the complexity of most existing static site generators like Jekyll and Hugo -- it seemed like even a basic blog required an immense amount of configuration and provided tons of features I didn't need. I built this mostly for myself, but I'd love any feedback on it :)
