I spent the last few weeks building a UWP app for Windows 10 that finally made it into the Windows Store. The biggest challenge was that UWP seems to have limitations with the .net version for UWP has a different API, particularly around the UDPClient API. I've been working on this for a few months since I got my Surface RT, and realized there wasn't a solid gtalk/gchat app. It's a C#/XAML app, and I ended up writing my own XMPP stack on-top of raw sockets since there wasn't a good open source one available (that would run in RT). Is anyone else on HN participating in this FCC research project to measure broadband performance? [1] I signed up for more information when the project was announced, some time ago, but a few days ago the device arrived. Technically, it is quite an interesting little box. Hi HN, I'd like to share a small Go utility I wrote called prxy. The idea was born out of my frustration with accessing my self-hosted services when I'm on the go. I use WireGuard to connect to my homelab, but I really dislike sending all my computer's traffic through my home network — it slows things down and is inconvenient. One of my previous side projects was to build a small web app meant to be run on enterprise Windows server environment.
