Hello HN! I'm the creator and solo developer of Extension.js, a development tool for browser extensions with built-in support for TypeScript, WebAssembly, React, and modern JavaScript. Developers use it to spend less time configuring the compilation config or learning new frameworks and more time actually writing code. Most projects similar to Extension.js rely on some sort of abstraction or configuration to get started, making the initial development process slow given the extra learning curve and setup guidelines. By using Extension.js, adding the package to your npm scripts is all it…

Colin here, creator of Nub. I’ve had the general shape of this in mind for years. Nub runs your code with stock `node`, augmented with a `--require` preload hook[0] that adds a transpiler (oxc-powered, packaged as a Node-API add-on), registers a module resolution hook[1], and injects polyfills as needed for APIs like `Worker`, `Temporal`, etc. All purely additive, your code ultimately runs using Node’s actual engine & stdlib implementations. Hey HN, I just built an experimental VSCode extension called LLM Debugger. It’s a proof-of-concept that lets a large language model take charge of debugging. Instead of only looking at the static code, the LLM also gets to see the live runtime state—actual variable values, function calls, branch decisions, and more. The idea is to give it enough context to help diagnose issues faster and even generate synthetic data from running programs. Here’s what it does: * Active Debugging: It integrates with Node.js debug sessions to gather runtime info (like variable states and stack traces). *…

I built Nogic, a VSCode extension currently, because AI tools make code grow faster than developers can build a mental model by jumping between files. Exploring structure visually has been helping me onboard to unfamiliar codebases faster. It’s early and rough, but usable. Would love feedback on whether this is useful and what relationships are most valuable to visualize.

Hey guys! I just released a NPM package to integrate a visual scripting editor into any node project (React, Vue, Angular... you name it). Basically, the goal is to provide your users a way to customize, automate, create new features for your product. Just like an open-source community, but without the barrier of code. Here's the homepage of the project: https://luna-park.app And a small tutorial for visual scripting: https://luna-park.app/challenge

Best way I’ve found so far to manage multiple projects in VSCode. Pitch: “ It helps you to easily access your projects, no matter where they are located. Don't miss those important projects anymore.”

We've rolled out a feature for openbase.com that we think is a DX game changer for Node devs. Since the emergence of ECMA Script modules, it's been a continuous guessing game as to what kind of exports a package has. That's never really been discoverable without using a site like unpkg, or installing the package and inspecting package.json. Openbase now displays the ES Module support level (e.g. type of exports) on all of their package pages. We added this feature because our devs are some of the folks continually caught off guard by installing an NPM dependency only to find out it's…

Hi, we are a small team from Vienna and today released our first version of a Package Manager similar to apt, Homebrew, or Chocolatey, but specifically tailored for Kubernetes environments and cloud-native software. Originally, we wanted to contribute to the Kubernetes ecosystem with a different idea; however, after talking to the community, we uncovered that package management is an even bigger problem at the moment. We are now looking for as much feedback as possible, so we would really appreciate it if you could check it out and let us know what you think! Thanks!
