I’ve been a remote SWE since the pandemic and truly appreciate its flexibilities and time saved from not commuting. Lately, friends and close ones have been asking me for advice on finding remote roles. I built a live interactive map that shows where top AI companies hire around the world. I collected this data for a hackathon project. Many ATS providers have a public API that you can hit with the slug of the companies to get open jobs. The hardest part was finding the companies. I tried Firecrawl but it returned around 200 companies per provider which wasn’t enough for me. Then, I tried SERPAPI but it was expensive. Hi everyone, I built GrepJob because I got frustrated with the user experience of LinkedIn/Indeed while looking for a new SWE job. Specifically: 1) Not being able to trust the date posted of any job. Hello! I used an LLM to extract structured data from each comment on the “Ask HN: Who is Hiring? (January 2024)” post, available at: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38842977. This created a dataset of 400+ jobs with data such as title, company name, location, is job remote, salary data, and the URL/email to contact. For the UI, a NextJS static site was created to filter and view the structured data.
