Hi all! This morning, we released a new Apache 2.0 licensed model on HuggingFace for detecting hallucinations in retrieval augmented generation (RAG) systems. What we've found is that even when given a "simple" instruction like "summarize the following news article," every LLM that's available hallucinates to some extent, making up details that never existed in the source article -- and some of them quite a bit. OP here. Birth of a Mind documents a "recursive self-modeling" experiment I ran on a single day in 2026. Probability involves a lot of extra-mathematical concepts and funny transforms. I have always had a hard time internalizing it. When I heard a couple years ago that Lemurs are actually capable of abstract math, that gave me a bit of motivation to try to finally conceptualize probability in terms of whole numbers, counts, geometric shapes, basically easy-to-remember mathematical primitives. I've built a prototype of a conversational agent with an inner monologue, who gives the illusion of consciousness. And, according to Attention Schema Theory, consciousness is an illusion. So, this chatbot may be conscious. It's built with OpenAI's Completion API (based on GPT3) and React. You can test it / fork it at will, it's open-source. I built a browser-only dream interpreter that maps symbols to meaning using a custom keyword engine. No AI, no tracking, no backend it’s all deterministic logic, built with vanilla JavaScript.
