I build one absurd web project every month
I’ve been building absurd, mostly useless web projects for fun — and I publish one every month at absurd.website. These are deliberately non-functional, weird, sometimes funny, sometimes philosophical — and usually totally unnecessary. Some examples: Sexy Math — solve math problems to reveal erotic images. Trip to Mars — a real-time simulation that takes 7 months to finish. Add Luck to Your e-Store — add a waving cat widget to boost your conversion via superstition. Microtasks for Meatbags — the future: AI gives prompts, humans execute. Invisible Lingerie — it’s sexy. And invisible. Artist…

In plain words
A creator publishes deliberately non-functional and absurd web projects monthly at absurd.website, exploring unusual possibilities of web technology for entertainment and philosophical purposes. Projects range from mathematical puzzles paired with adult images to multi-month Mars simulations, AI-driven human task systems, and art market tracking tools. The work prioritizes creative experimentation and humor over practical utility, appealing to those interested in unconventional digital art and speculative web experiences.

From the sources
Every month, absurd.website drops a new creative experiment — unexpected, useless, and strangely fun. A growing collection of surreal internet projects that make no sense, on purpose. No goals. Just vibes.
ABSURD.website creates experimental startups and digital products as artistic statements — blending tech, design, and conceptual absurdity into projects that feel like modern art pieces disguised as businesses.

Strange AttractorsOct 2025 · blog.shashanktomar.com · ▲804I went down the rabbit hole on a side project and ended up building this: Strange Attractors(https://blog.shashanktomar.com/posts/strange-attractors). It’s built with three.js. Working on it reminded me of the little "maths for fun" exercises I used to do while learning programming in early days. Just trying things out, getting fascinated and geeky, and being surprised by the results. I spent way too much time on this, but it was extreme fun. My favorite part: someone pointed me to the Simone Attractor on Threads. It is a 2D attractor and I asked GPT to extrapolate it to…
Non-AI created illustrations, crafted by human imagination2023 · absurd.design · ▲7Hi Hacker News community! I'm thrilled to introduce my wife, Diana, the creative mastermind behind absurd.design. As a team, we offer hand-drawn illustrations to project makers who appreciate free-spirited and quirky aesthetics. In a time where technology is transforming artwork, Diana strongly believes that the love and emotion a human artist puts into their work cannot be replaced by anything else. That's why absurd.design illustrations are carefully crafted with love and dedication, designed to speak to the emotions of humans like you. We're excited to share our latest project with you -…

Hey HN! Pilots everywhere are required to keep a logbook of all their flying hours, aircraft, airports, and so on. Since I track everything digitally (some people still just use paper logbooks!), I put together some data visualizations and a few 3D globes to show my flying history. This globe is probably my favourite so far: https://jameshard.ing/pilot/globes/all If you’ve got ideas for other graphs or ways to show this kind of data, I’d love to hear them!

I was the main contributor to workout.lol, an open-source fitness app to easily build a workout routine. The project had traction (1.4k GitHub stars, 95 forks, ~20K visits/month), but was eventually sold due to video licensing hurdles. The new owner stopped maintaining it, and the repo went abandoned. Over the next 9 months, I sent 15 emails to try to save it : no replies. Feature requests & issues were ignored. The community was left with a "broken" tool let's say. I couldn't just let it die So I built the new version from scratch with the same open-source spirit, but a better…
