I build one absurd web project every month2025 · absurd.website · ▲293I’ve been building absurd, mostly useless web projects for fun — and I publish one every month at absurd.website. These are deliberately non-functional, weird, sometimes funny, sometimes philosophical — and usually totally unnecessary. Some examples: Sexy Math — solve math problems to reveal erotic images. Trip to Mars — a real-time simulation that takes 7 months to finish. Add Luck to Your e-Store — add a waving cat widget to boost your conversion via superstition. Microtasks for Meatbags — the future: AI gives prompts, humans execute. Invisible Lingerie — it’s sexy. And invisible. Artist…

I made a tiny book using a pen-plotter and AI2025 · muffinman.io · ▲150Hey HN, I want to share a personal project: I made a tiny pen-plotted book for my wife. I did everything myself—drawings (with some help from Midjourney), plotting, cutting, and binding. I even used a 3D printer to make a helper tool. It's absolutely over-engineered, but I enjoyed it a lot. Multi-disciplinary projects, especially those with a physical output, are a lot of fun for me. The post covers the process in detail, but if you're interested in anything specific, let me know. Cheers!

I'm a big fan of the BBC podcast In Our Time -- and (like most people) I've been playing with the OpenAI APIs. In Our Time has almost 1,000 episodes on everything from Cleopatra to the evolution of teeth to plasma physics, all still available, so it's my starting point to learn about most topics. But it's not well organised. So here are the episodes sorted by library code. It's fun to explore. Web scraping is usually pretty tedious, but I found that I could send the minimised HTML to GPT-3 and get (almost) perfect JSON back: the prompt includes the Typescript definition. At the same time I…
