Hello HN, Over the last 15 months, two friends and I developed the music recording app we felt we wanted based on our own needs as musicians. It's called Tape It [1] and has just recently hit the Apple App Store [2]. We put a lot of effort into a good UX to help musicians really focus on playing their instrument instead of pretending to be a recording engineer. The app records in stereo on newer iPhones (although that's a premium feature; the free version only records in standard mono audio quality). A few months ago I had a silly idea of making a mobile app that used the accelerometer to track the slide motion for playing a virtual trombone. Just wanted to share the story of bringing it to fruition here on hn. I started out spending a couple days trying to get something cross-platform going in Flutter, but it soon became clear that wasn't the best fit, seeing as I'd need native hooks for most of what the app needed to do, and it wasn't yet clear it'd be possible at all. I recently got Ableton Move and was disappointed by how difficult it was to convert samples into Move-compatible drum racks, so I made a simple CLI tool for that. I hope others find it useful, and at some point, Ableton sees the need and provides us with a built-in solution.

I made this iPhone app called "Affine Tuning" which is a collection of body-interactive musical pieces: https://affinetuning.com/ It uses body tracking (Motion Capture from RealityKit) to shape dynamic compositions. The app is completely free and will be updated in the future with more songs and other interactive features.
