Products that do what I made MediaManager, a modern alternative to the *ARR ecosystem does
Hi, I'm currently developing an alternative to Sonarr/Radarr/Jellyseer that I called MediaManager. Github Repo Link: https://github.com/maxdorninger/MediaManager Why you might want to use MediaManager: OAuth/OIDC support for authentication; movie AND tv show management; multiple qualities of the same Show/Movie (i.e. you can have a 720p and a 4K version); you can on a per show/per movie basis select if you want the metadata from TMDB or TVDB; Built-in media requests (kinda like Jellyserr); support for torrents containing multiple seasons of a tv…

Fellow hackers, Media Hoarder is celebrating its 2nd birthday today and it finally supports tv series with the freshly released v1.4.0. Here's a video showcasing the new features: https://www.youtube.com/watch/3qfb5UWJrdQ Development wise I've been joined by an individual named kolbdog323 providing lots of feedback and requests over multiple months which I'm truly grateful of, because Media Hoarder is still an absolute side-project developed by a father of two in his limited spare time :D Please feel free to discuss features, development and sideproject-y things, I'm…

Hello HN! I've built a web app that helps you discover new shows and movies you'll actually enjoy by: - Connecting to your Sonarr/Radarr/Plex instances to understand your media library - Leveraging your Plex watch history for personalized recommendations - Using the LLM of your choice to generate intelligent suggestions - Simple setup: Easy integration with your existing media stack - Flexible AI options: Works with OpenAI-compatible APIs like OpenRouter, or run locally via LM Studio, Ollama, etc. - Personalized recommendations: Based on what you actually watch. While it's still a…

Hello everyone! I'm currently in a journey to learn and improve my Elixir and Go skills (my daily job uses C++) and looking through my backlog for projects to take on I decided Elixir is the perfect language to write a highly-parallel BitTorrent tracker. So I have spent my free time these last 3 months writing one! Now I think it has enough features to present it to the world (and a docker image to give it a quick try). I know some people see trackers as relics of the past now that DHT and PEX are common but I think they still serve a purpose in today's Internet (purely talking about public…

My goal is to create a free media downloader that doesn't bother you. friendly, efficient, and has no paywalls or anything like that. I've been working on that for the last 3 weeks or so, it's not perfect yet, but it works, and I'm really excited to share it.

Dear HN community, we are happy to announce the release of MediaCMS on Github! It is a modern CMS built in Django/PostgreSQL/React and a REST API, released under AGPL license. MediaCMS handles the life cycle of media files and is deal for those who want to build online communities around media file sharing, for informational, educational or entertainment purposes. As stated on our page on Github, we have three goals for MediaCMS: a) deliver all functionality one would expect from a modern system, b) allow for easy installation and maintenance, c) allow easy customization and…

Hello HN, I would like to share Filemat, a web-based file manager that I built because I wanted something with a simple setup and file permissions that work across the filesystem (as opposed to permissions only for a folder managed by the app). It's self-hosted and open-source (currently in beta). I'd be happy to hear your feedback Repo: https://github.com/bingud/filemat

Podsumer subscribes to your podcast feeds and downloads them to your server for serving/listening from there. It can serve its own feeds to be used in your podcast app(s). Finally, it features a web based player for listening from anywhere. I run this behind gluetun so that feed and media downloads happen over VPN. I am an avid self-hoster. I made this podcatcher to handle my podcast listening needs. My goal isn't to make something that looks super slick, just something that is useable and gets the job done. I could really use some feedback from other self-hosting podcast listeners!

Hey HN! I just released Multiplex, an app to watch torrents together. It provides an experience similar to Apple's SharePlay and Amazon's Prime Video Watch Party, except for any torrent instead of a specific streaming service, and uses WebRTC to synchronize playback positions between the people watching without requiring a central server. It's written in Go and allows the use of a central HTTP to BitTorrent gateway[1] if a viewer can't use the BitTorrent protocol on their own device. I'd love to get your feedback :) [1] https://github.com/pojntfx/htorrent
