The book page links to a blog post that explains how I got about it (and has a link to sample content), but the TL&DR is that I could not find a lot of books that were on "our" history _and_ were larded with technical details. So I set about writing one, and some five years later I'm happy to share the result. I think it's one of the few "computer history" books that has tons of code, but correct me if I'm wrong (I wrote this both to tell a story and to learn :-)). My favorite languages are Smalltalk and Lisp, but as an Emacs user, I've been using the latter for much longer and for my…

Hi all! I'm going into my freshman year, and figured that the best way to prepare for the intro to programming Racket course would be to implement my own garbage-collected, dynamically typed, functional programming language in C ;) Anyways... here's the repo: https://github.com/liam-ilan/crumb I started learning C over the summer, so I still have a whole lot to learn... Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! :D

In past few weeks, I wrote several chapters to learn Scheme, a programming language of the Lisp dialect. The writing is not final as many chapters are missing. I wrote this because I wanted to improve my Scheme knowledge and increase the (low) number of Scheme literature. The writing is inspired by Calculus Made Easy, which I learned about here on HN. This is why I'm sharing it here. But keep in mind that my writing style is not as good as that in the above-mentioned inspiration. Feedback is very much appreciated.

Hi! We're Amisi and Claude, builders of the i2 language and the i2forge platform. i2 is an (early draft of a) language designed to make formal verification easy for mathematicians. We are launching the language as an open source project today (https://i2lang.org) together with a closed alpha for i2forge. However, we have a publicly accessible demo page which anyone can use, and we would love your feedback. Thanks.

I made a starter template for creating Haskell web-applications using HTMX, AlpineJS, Servant, TailwindCSS and Lucid (HASTL) - I really enjoy working in this stack and I think it brings together a lot of cool technologies with the awesomeness of Haskell doing all the heavy lifting I also tried to make it "production ready" by adding build and test tools e.g. it comes with simple Make targets and with unit and integration tests that use testcontainers to spin up the database and web application to test against. It's based on the awesome servant-persistant example by Matt Parsons…
