I've been studying interval arithmetic for the past few weeks and it's a really interesting field because while there is a ton of super interesting research published over the past decades, it has never really gotten the recognition that it deserves, IMO. One reason for this is that standard interval arithmetic has really poor handling of division by intervals containing zero. If you compute 1 / [-1, 2] in regular interval arithmetic, you get either [-∞, +∞], or you have to say that the operation is undefined. Both solutions are virtually useless. The real answer of course is [-∞, -1] U…

Wrote this to learn more about the `chumsky` parser combinator library, rustyline, and the `ariadne` error reporting crate. Such a nice DX combo for writing new languages. Still a work in progress, but I thought I'd share :)

Hey everyone! I've been working on hsrs, a type-safe Haskell Bindings Generator for Rust. I couldn't really find any bindings generator that would create type-safe, rich bindings for Haskell from Rust. Naturally, both languages have rich type systems, so I was amazed that no awesome bindings generator already existed, hence I decided to write my own. hsrs feels very similar to pyo3 and napi-rs, and if you've used those, hsrs will feel right at home. What's unique about hsrs as opposed to hs-bindgen is that it has type-safe bindings for rich types, like Result, Maybe, etc. while also…

Sabela is a reactive notebook for Haskell. The name is the Ndebele word for "to respond." Cells respond to each other on change. Initially it was meant as a tool for working with data but it has turned out to have a lot of pedagogical value outside of data analysis work. There is a gallery to read through on the website and a number of examples in the repo showcasing things like: * Python interop * Widgets and animation * Exploratory data analysis If you find any of this interesting please try it out. Any feedback is welcome.
