Hi HN, I am Jiayuan, and I'm here to introduce a tool we've been building over the past few months: Devv (https://devv.ai). In simple terms, it is an AI-powered search engine specifically designed for developers. Now, you might ask, with so many AI search engines already available—Perplexity, You.com, Phind, and several open-source projects—why do we need another one? We all know that Generative Search Engines are built on RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)[1] combined with Large Language Models (LLMs). Most of the products mentioned above use indexes from general search engines…

I've been exploring the (not so=) amazing potential of AI in coding and have compiled a list of tools. From AI-powered IDEs to code generators, this resource is my contribution to the community. I'm still on the fence about including txt2sql projects, as their functionality seems too basic to me. And I'm personally maintaining this, so your feedback is wellcome.

Hey HN! We built https://keenable.ai, a different web search API for AI agents. Keenable searches our own 100B+ page index. We are focused on low cost and latency (p95 <250ms from us-east). We don’t believe in benchmaxxing, so we open-sourced our internal benchmarking suite, NEEDLE (available at https://keenableai.github.io/needle): a live benchmark that compares Keenable with other search APIs on fresh agent-like queries. I spent seven years at Amazon as a scientist working on web grounding for Alexa/AGI, and my co-founder Andrey previously led search at…

This is a project I recently worked on at Definitive. We’re hoping to make it easier to semantically query (changing) source code files. We’d love to see people use it as a building block. If you have any suggestions please leave a comment or open a GitHub issue!

Codebased combines Tree Sitter for code awareness (find functions, data structures, constants, etc. not just lines of code), full-text search using SQLite, and semantic search using OpenAI embeddings + FAISS. Despite being implemented in Python, supporting semantic search, making multiple API calls for embedding and re-ranking, it is faster than ripgrep for runng searches against the Linux kernel (takes ~1 second vs. ~2 seconds, obviously depends on system, temperature, time of day, tidal forces, etc.) Up next: - A Perplexity-like agent for interpreting results, making multiple follow-up…

Hey HN! I built Retain as the evolution of claude-reflect (github.com/BayramAnnakov/claude-reflect). The original problem: I use Claude Code/Codex daily for coding, plus claude.ai and ChatGPT occasionally. Every conversation contains decisions, corrections, and patterns I forget existed weeks later. I kept re-explaining the same preferences. claude-reflect was a CLI tool that extracted learnings from Claude Code sessions. Retain takes this further with a native macOS app that: - Aggregates conversations from Claude Code, claude.ai, ChatGPT, and Codex CLI - Instant full-text…

I built this because I got tired of watching Claude Code read through massive files just to find a few functions. Sourcerer lets AI agents search code semantically and grab exactly the code chunks they need instead of burning tokens on whole files. It uses tree-sitter to parse your codebase and creates a searchable index. So instead of "read auth.py (538 lines)", an agent can search for "user authentication logic" and get back just the relevant functions.
